Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in a similar environment.
• Experience in banking or financial services.
• MBA/Accounting/Controlling degree; Chartered Accountant/Controller is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, processes and standards.
• Extensive understanding of regulatory compliance in the financial industry.
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.

We are Accounting Shared Service Centre, a high performing team that is responsible for the accounting of the financials of ABN AMRO's commercial client units and group functions. We have a pivotal role between our front office stakeholders and the financial chain that ultimately leads to ABN AMRO’s reporting of financial figures. The department combines deep analysis skills with stakeholder management and the Accounting Shared Service Centre is a key department in ensuring that changes are effectively implemented.

Your job

As an Accounting Specialist, you will have a critical role in our finance department, with a strong focus on accounting processes optimization.The department is currently implementing a new system environment. We need experts to guide this change who have strong capabilities in the IFRS and regulatory domain. You will also propose actionable solutions to optimize our monthly closing and you will aid in ensuring that controls are performed with auditable evidence. You will work closely with other specialists and report directly to the Teamlead Group Functions.

The expert domains in the team include Sustainable Finance Disclosures, Payroll and Rebilling. These domains require the ability to understand complex processes, analyze the current way of working and come up with actionable improvements that are backed by your colleagues.

Working environment

Accounting Shared Service Centre is part of Financial Accounting and consists of 51 colleagues from diverse backgrounds. We are responsible for the entire internal and external IFRS reporting of the client units and group functions of ABN Amro mainbank. This includes the client units Personal & Business Banking, Wealth Management and Corporate Banking.

The team works closely together and the team demonstrates strong attention to detail, meets deadlines consistently and possesses a deep understanding of complex financial transactions. Additionally, the team adapts to changes in accounting regulations and is proactive in continously improving acccounting processes.

You are analytical, proactive and a strong team player. You support the team with your knowledge and experience. You thrive in a changing environment. You collaborate easily, have a positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn. In addition, you can relate to the following qualifications:

• 5-8 years of experience in a similar environment


• Experience in banking or financial services


• Masters degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Controlling or similar. Being a chartered Accountant or Controller (RA/ACCA/RC) is a plus


• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, processes and standards


• Extensive understanding of regulatory compliance in the financial industry


• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
