Job description

Accounting & Reporting Specialist (BCBS 239)

€6,300 to €7,200 gross per month, plus 8% holiday allowance

BCBS 239 Programme | 36 hours | Amsterdam | ASAP to 15 December 2026

The credit risk report shows one figure. The general ledger shows another, for the same portfolio at the same month-end. Before anything goes to the regulator, someone has to explain the gap, break by break.

That's most of this job.

A large Dutch bank has until the end of 2026 to be fully compliant with BCBS 239. The programme has run for a couple of years, and the framework is established. What's left is the harder part: making it hold in the reports the bank actually sends, month after month. You'd join a six‑person team inside Accounting & Reporting doing exactly that, alongside a wider BCBS 239 programme that spans finance, risk and data.

The work

Three pieces:

  • Reconciliation. Risk data against the books, an explanation for every break, and a framework that makes the exercise repeatable
  • Data quality controls that catch a wrong figure before it reaches the regulator
  • The cover note and dashboard that tell management how far each report can be trusted

The closer the year‑end deadline gets, the more this tilts technical. Expect the split to run 60/40, even 70/30 toward hands‑on delivery in Power BI and Python over the final stretch, building the artefacts and dashboards that get this over the line, rather than programme‑level work.

What you bring

Ideally, BCBS 239 work you did yourself. A data lineage, a quality control, a reconciliation, a self‑assessment against the principles: you can say which report it served and what went wrong with it. Don't have that exact background? Solid experience in banking risk or regulatory reporting counts too, as long as you can speak concretely to what you did and why it mattered. This is a short assignment, so we need someone who's already fluent in the domain, not someone we train on the ground.

You bring Python and Power BI. Those are the tools this seat actually runs on, not a nice‑to‑have on a skills list. FINREP, COREP or AnaCredit experience is a real plus: those teams already work on the line between risk and finance, and that's where this seat is.

A few years in, not fifteen. The bank wants someone who does the work, not someone who runs the programme. Your English is strong. Dutch isn’t required for this role.

Two things worth saying plainly

This is a contract to 15 December 2026, with no guaranteed continuation. Nobody has promised an extension, so don't plan on one.

The process is quick: applications close Thursday 17 September at 13:00, interviews start early the following week, and a decision follows fast. Start is as soon as possible. If you're deep into a notice period, this one won't work for you.

What we offer

€6,300 to €7,200 gross per month including holiday allowance, based on a 36‑hour week. Based in Amsterdam. You must already have the right to work in the Netherlands; we can't sponsor a visa. You'll be screened before you start, by us and by the bank.
