Job summary

Van Oord in Rotterdam invites you to join the Infra Marine team for a graduation thesis on advancing coastal engineering through 3D numerical modelling. You will work on the TKI OFCOARSE project, comparing 2D and 3D CoastalFOAM simulations with laboratory data.

The role emphasizes hands-on analysis, collaboration with TU Delft, Deltares and Haskoning, and mentorship from experienced engineers. Availability from November with a focus on wave overtopping and loads.

Qualifications

• MSc in a technical field such as Hydraulic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physics.
• Interest in numerical modelling.
• Experience with MATLAB and Python.

Responsibilities

• Analyse 2D vs 3D CoastalFOAM simulations and laboratory measurements.
• Assess lateral flow, turbulence and energy dissipation.
• Collaborate with TU Delft, Deltares and Haskoning.
• Present findings to partners in the OFCOARSE project.
