Job summary

Ultra Clean Technology is seeking a Welder I in Malaysia to join a critical manufacturing team. The role requires reading electrical/mechanical drawings and weld symbols, with at least 1 year of weldment experience and a Diploma in Welding Technology.

The candidate will operate welding equipment, set up processes, create coupons, and execute production orders in SAP with strict adherence to 6S and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate Level 3 / Diploma in Welding Technology from certified institute by MQA.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Able to read Weld Symbol requirements.
• 1 year experience in weldment/manufacturing/aerospace/engineering industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily checks of welding equipment / machines / weld head / torch / gas piping and work area to meet UCTM standard.
• Set up welding equipment, including selecting the appropriate welding method, welding machine settings, and consumables.
• Create 'Weld Coupons' daily before start of production.
• Execute Work Order as per prioritized by Production Planner.
• Ensure all 'Kitted' components including bent tubes, as per print (Production Drawing).
• Verify the welded assembly product to be in OK condition: Weld bead size, start/end, overlap and absence of discoloration.
• START & STOP all Work Order by SAP Systems in real time manner.
• Report any abnormality or an issue that arises in your workplace to your lead or supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform daily check to welding equipment / machines / weld head / torch / gas piping and work area to meet UCTM standard.
• Ensure 6S requirement daily (before start & end of shift).
• Set up welding equipment, including selecting the appropriate welding method, welding machine settings, and consumables.
• Create 'Weld Coupons' daily before start of production.
• Execute Work Order as per prioritized by Production Planner.
• Ensure all 'Kitted' components including bent tubes, as per print (Production Drawing).
• Validate all 'Kitted' components including bent tubes is in OK condition before starting the job.
• Weld the joints as per print requirement:
• Type of Joint / Weld Bead size (if any) / Start or End (if any) / Overlap Length (if any).
• Verify the welded assembly product to be in OK condition:
  • Check the Welding Appearance (NO Discoloration outer & inner).
  • Check the Welding Bead (NO abnormality: cross check with daily coupons).
  • Randomly check for Welding Penetration (Borescope / Glass method).
  • Ensure product required dimensions is achieved.
• START & STOP all Work Order by SAP Systems in real time manner.
• Report any abnormality or an issue that arises in your workplace to your lead or supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

• Minimum 1 year experience in weldment/manufacturing/aerospace/engineering industry.
• Able to comprehend electrical / mechanical drawings.
• Able to read & understand "Weld Symbol" requirements.
• Able to perform welding process as per requirement.
• Able to work in cleanroom environment; wearing jumpsuits, safety helmet and safety shoes.
• Willing to commit to the shift pattern and OT if required.

Education, Certifications, Requirements:

• Certificate Level 3 / Diploma in Welding Technology from certified institute by MQA.
• Good interpretation in reading and understanding Technical Drawings.
• Ability to uses Metrology Instruments: Vernier Caliper, Height Gauge, Micrometer, Ruler, etc.
