Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee timely preparation and submission of regulatory reports (monthly, AUM, audited reports).
  • Ensure all reports comply with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Design, implement, and review fund tax provisioning methodologies.
  • Lead fund tax audits by regulators and tax agencies.
  • Drive reporting projects and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and controls.
  • Monitor team performance and oversee staff development plans.

Job description

To oversee and lead the Fund Accounting Reporting team in ensuring the timely submission of regulatory reports and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The role is also responsible for internal management reporting, fund tax compliance and reporting, reporting automation initiatives, and ad hoc fund valuation activities as required.

Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Reporting

Oversee and ensure the timely preparation and submission of:

Monthly statistical reports.

Monthly and half-yearly Assets Under Management (AUM) reports.

Audited annual reports for Unit Trust Funds and Private Retirement Schemes (PRS)/Retirement Private Mandates.

Ad hoc reporting requests from regulators.

Ensure all reports comply with regulatory and statutory requirements.

Tax Compliance & Reporting

Design, implement, and periodically review fund tax provisioning methodologies.

Lead and manage fund tax audits conducted by regulatory authorities and tax agencies.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Unit Trust Fund and Private Retirement Scheme tax regulations.

Ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance for all funds.

Projects & Process Improvement

Act as a key committee member in reporting-related projects by contributing ideas, strategies, and recommendations for future reporting requirements.

Review and provide input on reporting requirements during project development and implementation stages.

Drive reporting process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls.

People Management

Monitor team performance and oversee staff development plans.

Address employee performance, disciplinary, and other people-related matters.

Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to direct reports.

Foster a high-performance and collaborative work environment.

Learning & Development

Participate in relevant internal and external training programs.

Continuously update professional knowledge through self-learning, research, and industry developments.

Job Requirements
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.

Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, CIMA) is an added advantage.

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Fund Accounting, Fund Reporting, Asset Management, or Fund Management industries.

Experience in regulatory reporting and fund tax compliance.

Strong knowledge of Unit Trust Funds and Private Retirement Schemes (PRS).

8 to 15 years of experience in the fund management industry.

Experience in designing and implementing processes related to Net Asset Value (NAV) calculation and fund reporting.

Experience leading reporting automation, transformation, or system enhancement projects.

Prior people management and team leadership experience.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to fund management companies.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Project management and process improvement capabilities.

Leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
