Job summary

A leading energy solutions company is seeking a Senior Telecom Engineer in Kuala Lumpur. The role involves developing solutions, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the quality of engineering outputs. Candidates should have over 10 years of experience in Telecommunication engineering design for onshore/offshore applications and preferably hold a Professional Engineer registration. This position offers a Fixed Term Contract with potential travels required.

We are currently seeking a Senior Telecom Engineer to join our team based in Kuala Lumpur.

Successful candidates will be offered Fixed Term Contract.

About us

• Assist the HOD in ensuring good quality design outputs, as per the relevant procedures.
• Produce the agreed deliverables as per the project requirement and schedules in a cost‑effective manner.
• Provide manhour and material cost estimates for proposals.
• Develop other more junior personnel’s skill by providing on‑the‑job training and appraising their performance.
• Provide advice and check work in their fields of expertise when required.
• When assigned as a Lead Engineer on a project, the additional responsibilities are:
  • Advise the HOD on the manpower and skill levels required, to ensure smooth execution of the project.
  • Assign work to the project team appropriately.
  • Liaise with other departments, clients and third parties as required by the project.
• Be overall responsible for the quality of the work produced.
• Ensure timely approval of engineering and requisitioning documents from the client as well as timely technical and economical definition of change orders and claims.
• Prepare updates and review specifications and calculations for detailed engineering.
• Contribute to optimization of material quantities by proposing value engineering solutions.
• Ensure contractual technical specifications are met by the vendors.
• Adhere to the committed man/hours and budget.
• Ensure timely internal and external reporting on engineering activities to the Lead.
• Meet quality objectives of the project.
• Possess good technical know‑how and be well versed with design codes and standards.
• Interface with other disciplines and project support functions such as procurement and planning.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to more junior engineering employees.

About You

• The candidate shall possess a Bachelor degree in Telecommunication/Electronic Engineering accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia or an approved equivalent.
• For a Senior Engineer, possess at least 10 years of Telecommunication engineering design experience in onshore/offshore application.
• For a Lead Engineer, possess at least 12 years of postgraduate experience in similar Telecommunication engineering design for onshore/offshore application.
• Preferably registered Professional Engineer (PE) with the local board or an approved equivalent.
• Be willing to travel and be stationed at various Engineering Operating Centers / Client Offices as needed (including overseas assignments).

• Possess site or with OEM (1–2 years).
• Exhibit and maintain good relationships with clients, peers, equipment vendors, and suppliers.
• Have a good professional check (feedback) from past employers/clients.
