Job summary

A leading commodities trading company based in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an individual to monitor market developments, manage client relationships, and oversee trading activities. Job description

Monitoring the commodity Market development, updating the market parameter and analysing the market trend.

To monitor trading/marketing and financial exposure that include the physical and future transaction and implementing risk mitigation strategies.

Keeping accurate report, issuing invoices and processing payment with regards to the process of preparing invoices/Difference Account and payment instruction for the tin purchase on the LME to the broker and our Finance Department.

Maintaining and building a good relationship with the clients and to gather & compile information from client declaration in order to establish daily trading commitment of which on average pricing basis and also known & unknown pricing on LME.

Sending daily market data for tin, opening stock & report the transaction to management as well as daily monitoring and updating the LME position.

To ensure that data of sales and purchases are updated in the Syspro System.

To arrange delivering of tin to LME warehouse and monitor tin stock movement. This involves the process of issuance Release Instruction to the LME warehouse and de‑warranting for physical shipment.

To follow up with the respective warehouse on the LME release instruction and production on the metal availability from time to time.

To ensure that LME settlement / instruction are received by LME brokers & executed accordingly.

Preparation of monthly sales & purchases book and profit & loss report, LME exposure, 3rd parties hedging report for submission to Head of Sales and Trading Department (HOSTD), Sales & Trading Department (STD) & Manager Accounting (MA).

To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as instructed by Assistant Manager, Trading and General Manager Commercial, Sales & Trading as and when required.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Accounting or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of relevant working experience in trading, commodities, commercial operations or related field is preferred.
  • Good understanding of commodity trading, market trends, financial exposure, and risk management.
  • Familiar with LME trading, hedging, physical & futures transactions will be an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret market data and prepare trading reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with ERP systems (e.g. Syspro).
  • Able to manage documentation, invoicing, payment processing and reconciliation accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain strong client relationships.
  • Well‑organised, detail‑oriented and able to meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proactive, responsible and able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Willing to be based at Q Sentral, Kuala Lumpur.
