Job description
Responsibilities
  • Propose the best cutting tools and tooling strategies prior to CAM program creation, considering material, machine capability, cycle time, tool life, and cost.
  • Support CAM teams by providing approved tooling concepts, tool assemblies, and cutting recommendations.
  • Create, release, and maintain tool assemblies, tool lists, and tooling data in the Tool Management System (TMS).
  • Ensure all tooling data in TMS is accurate, standardized, and released before machining starts.
  • Use Zoller tool pre-setter to measure and verify tool assemblies according to TMS specifications.
  • Use shrink-fit machine to assemble the tools.
  • Ensure all tooling used on the shop floor strictly follows the approved TMS assemblies with zero deviation.
  • Audit tooling setups, investigate non-compliance, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support tool crib & machinist/supervisor on correct tooling usage and setup.
  • Manage cutting tool and insert inventory using the Ascentec Tooling System (ATS).
  • Ensure ATS stock records accurately reflect actual physical stock in the tool cabinets.
  • Perform regular stock audits and reconciliation between ATS and physical inventory.
  • Ensure correct tool/item master data in ATS, including item codes, quantities, locations, and minimum stock levels.
  • Monitor ATS triggers and coordinate with purchasing to ensure timely replenishment of depleted stock.
  • Drive tooling standardization, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with tooling suppliers to evaluate new tools, inserts, and technologies.
  • Support NPI, program proving, and first-article builds by ensuring tooling readiness and availability.

  • Solid understanding of CNC machining processes and shop floor operations.
  • Strong attention to detail, discipline, and accountability mindset.
