Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair defective PCBs and electronic boards to component level
- Systematically identify faults on printed circuit boards using both visual inspection and electronic testing techniques.
- Isolate defective components or circuit sections, performing necessary repairs or replacements to restore board functionality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Analyze circuit behavior and symptoms of failure to determine root causes of faults.
- Apply logical troubleshooting methodologies and critical thinking to diagnose complex issues efficiently.
- Good knowledge of common electronic components and datasheets
- Understand the function and characteristics of basic and advanced components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, transistors, ICs, and connectors.
- Ability to read and interpret datasheets to verify component specifications and ratings.
- Perform soldering and desoldering of surface-mount and through-hole components
- Utilize precision soldering tools and techniques for reworking components on densely populated PCBs.
- Ensure solder joints are reliable, clean, and conform to IPC standards to prevent future failures.
- Replace faulty components such as resistors, capacitors, ICs, etc.
- Select appropriate replacement parts considering component specifications and environmental conditions.
- Handle and install components carefully to avoid damage or ESD issues.
- Review circuit diagrams, schematics, and board layouts
- Interpret electronic schematics and PCB layout drawings to understand circuit design and signal flow.
- Use these documents to assist in pinpointing faults and planning repairs.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Handle small components and fine-pitch parts accurately under microscopes or magnification tools.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship to ensure durability and safety of repairs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronic/Electromechanical Engineering.
- Familiarity with semiconductor equipment is a plus.
- Must be able to work in shifts.
- Willing to work and based in Ipoh.
