Overview

Western Digital

The next big thing in data is you! As Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining specific tools on a media manufacturing production line. The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and collaborate effectively; they will demonstrate a willingness to learn, flexibility, creative problem solving, exemplary communication skills and an ability to think on their feet. Candidates must be flexible to work a 12 hour AWS Shift and overtime, as required by the team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance per PM schedule. Conduct routine maintenance checks and services on all production equipment.
  • Document routine preventive maintenance on PM checklists, record data if applicable and maintain completed checklist/history in tool maintenance system.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on production machines to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
  • Document routine preventive maintenance and unscheduled failure details on system database.
  • Provide inputs to Shift Coordinator or Equipment Engineer to improve PM cycle-time, tool availability, quality/workmanship, reduce media scrap and cost of ownership.
  • Provide technical training and certification for junior technician.
  • Support Tool Owner and Equipment Engineer for machine conversion/upgrade and improvement projects.
Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Diploma or Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical), Engineering (Mechatronic/Electromechanical), Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) or equivalent
  • Working experience in manufacturing environment (especially in vacuum chamber system) is required.
  • Working experiences in sputtering or machine maintenance related field would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of control systems and/or PLC (Process Logic Control) would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge in using measurement tools such as multimeters, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Knowledge in studying schematic diagrams (circuit diagrams) working on system troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of failure mechanisms, ability to isolate, determine root cause and repair.
  • Proficient in MS Windows Software (Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook) & Forum Notes
  • Effective team player with proven relationship building & communication skills, including cross-functionally with Production, Process, Yield, and Quality.

  • Technical - Familiarity with sputtering equipment or other vacuum systems.
  • Problem Solving – Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control system failures.
  • Communication - Ability to communicate technical information effectively to colleagues and engineers.
  • Safety – Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations in the manufacturing environment.
  • Teamwork – Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, production, and quality teams.
  • Adaptability - Proficiency in handling emergencies and unexpected equipment failures.
