Job summary

A leading plantation company in Johor is seeking an experienced agricultural technician to provide technical expertise in soil management and cultivation practices. Responsibilities include overseeing planting blocks, conducting technical field surveys, and collaborating with the Farm Manager. The ideal candidate should have a degree in a related field and 2-3 years of field experience. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work independently. Willingness to travel to on-site plantation areas is necessary.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of soil management and crop monitoring.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technical expertise in soil analysis, soil usage, and land suitability assessment
• Support and advise on land preparation activities for new planting and replanting areas
• Provide technical guidance on planting, cultivation, fertilization, weed control, and harvesting practices
• Oversee technical execution for Fruit Planting Blocks and Nursery Planting Blocks
• Conduct regular technical field surveys, including Brix reading, Forcing take rate, plant height, and plant weight, Pest and disease monitoring, Other technical assessments related to crop health and productivity
• Analyse field data and recommend corrective actions or improvements to farm operations
• Coordinate closely with Farm Manager and HQ on work plans, technical programs, and field schedules
• Assist in planning and implementing agricultural programs, including experimental or trial plots when required
• Provide technical input to improve farming practices, productivity, and resource efficiency
• Provide technical advice on: Weed control programs, Foliar application operations, Forcing operations, plant care, and fruit care practices
• Ensure field practices comply with company standards, agronomic guidelines, and safety requirements
• Prepare and submit timely technical reports on: Field activities and survey findings, Equipment and material usage, Crop performance and production data
• Maintain accurate technical records and assist in estimating future operational and material requirements

REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plantation Management, or a related field
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant technical or field experience in plantation or agricultural operations (pineapple experience is an advantage)
• Strong knowledge of soil management, crop monitoring, and field technical practices
• Able to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
• Good communication and coordination skills with field teams and management
• Willing to travel and work on-site within plantation areas
• Possess a valid driver's license.
