Job summary
Cohu Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Technical Sourcing Engineer to optimize supply chain and manage supplier contract material liability. The role focuses on BOM validation, strategic sourcing across fabrication parts, modules and indirect materials, and close collaboration with project, product, engineering and industrial teams.
The ideal candidate has at least 2 years in purchasing or procurement engineering, engineering degree, and strong Excel/ERP capabilities.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills are required.
- Ability to convert data into information for key decisions.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word; ERP experience desired.
Responsibilities
- Manage supplier contract material liability and ensure supply chain optimization.
- Coordinate BOM validation and define supply type for parts/modules.
- Perform sourcing on new commodity codes including fabrication parts and standard components.
- Support spare-part RFQ activities and negotiate QBOM with suppliers.
- Monitor OEM costs and ensure QBOM pricing is updated; consolidate cost savings.

We are seeking a Technical Sourcing Engineer to manage supplier contract material liability and ensure supply chain optimization and continuity with strategic contract management
- o Understand supplier capability and capacity
- o BOM validation activity by define supply type for each part or module
- o Perform Sourcing on new commodity code accordingly: Fabrication Parts, Modules, Standard Components and Indirect Material.
- o Support on Spare-part RFQ request.
- o QBOM Review and negotiate with approved supplier for best cost.
- o Regular check on OEM cost, to ensure QBOM price updated
- o Consolidate cost savings and provide reporting for area of responsibility.
- o Quarterly Currency update in system.
- o Update and maintain Purchasing Info Record and Source list based on the element of quality, cost & delivery criteria.
- o Regular check and propose for the MOQ, by referring to demand, forecast and consumption. To ensure no inventory excess, and purchase with essential quantity
- o Responsible to keep data such quotation, QBOM and etc.
- o Working and maintain on strategic sourcing for dual source
- o Register new supplier in database and complete document in Linksquare
- o Work in collaboration with supplier on defined improvement projects, product family analysis for long-term supply partnership.
- o Communicate with Project Manager, Product Manager, Engineering and Indus Team for any improvement task or any technical concern
- o Delivery issue - Understand on the bottleneck from purchaser and support on gating material
- Price issue - Negotiate to reduce and defend the price. Price increase, to get approval by management.
- o Evaluate and provide score to justify supplier performance for commercial criteria based on ISO Documentation.
- o Determine ways to improve lead time.
- o Review high runner part / consumption and propose for contract.
- o Understand PRCO activity
- o Responsible to raise FAI for any new module or new supplier and follow up until FAI closure.
Any other ad-hoc assignment according to business needs
Education: Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience: Min of 2 years experience in purchasing, Engineering or procurement engineering with capital equipment desired.
Skills/Technical Requirements: Proficient in Excel, Powerpoint and Words. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP systems) is desired.
Strong negotiation and analytical skills required. Must be capable of converting data into information that can be utilised to make key decisions.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate as a cross-functional team member between interdepartment.
Having machining process knowledge & able to read technical drawing will be a plus.
Ability to drive and lead project.
