Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead – AI & Agentic Engineering to lead production-grade AI and enterprise applications, combining software engineering with practical AI agentic workflows.

You will guide engineers, make key technical decisions, review code, and stay hands-on; design with LLMs, agent orchestration, RAG, and ensure scalable, secure architecture across APIs, databases and cloud native platforms.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and development of AI-powered applications and enterprise software solutions.
• Translate product requirements into scalable architecture and practical implementation plans.
• Guide Software Engineers and AI Engineers across development, integration, testing and deployment.
• Make technical decisions covering APIs, databases, system integration, security, scalability and application architecture.
• Review code and ensure strong engineering standards, maintainability and quality.
• Remain hands-on in solving complex technical issues and critical production problems.
• Design and implement solutions involving LLMs, AI Agents, multi-agent systems, RAG, tool calling, memory, human-in-the-loop workflows and agent orchestration.
• Establish effective Agentic Code Engineering practices using AI coding agents for development, debugging, refactoring, testing and documentation.
• Define engineering standards, automated testing, CI/CD and quality controls to ensure AI-generated code is reliable and maintainable.
• Coach developers on how to work effectively with AI coding tools and agentic development workflows.
• Work closely with Product, Project Managers, Business Analysts and Presales teams to ensure solutions are technically feasible and successfully delivered.
• Mentor engineers and continuously improve the team's engineering capability, development velocity and technical practices.

Technical Lead - AI & Agentic Engineering

We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead – AI & Agentic Engineering to lead the development of production-grade AI and enterprise applications.

You will combine strong software engineering and architecture skills with practical experience in AI Agents, agentic workflows and AI-powered software development. You will guide developers, make key technical decisions, review code, solve complex engineering problems and help establish how our engineering team works effectively with AI coding agents.

This is not a traditional Engineering Manager role. We are looking for someone who can lead from the front technically and still get into the code when needed.

What You Will Do

Lead the technical design and development of AI-powered applications and enterprise software solutions.

Translate product and business requirements into scalable architecture and practical implementation plans.

Guide Software Engineers and AI Engineers across development, integration, testing and deployment.

Make technical decisions covering APIs, databases, system integration, security, scalability and application architecture.

Review code and ensure strong engineering standards, maintainability and quality.

Remain hands‑on in solving complex technical issues and critical production problems.

Design and implement solutions involving LLMs, AI Agents, multi‑agent systems, RAG, tool calling, memory, human‑in‑the‑loop workflows and agent orchestration.

Integrate AI capabilities with enterprise systems, APIs, databases and business workflows.

Establish effective Agentic Code Engineering practices using AI coding agents for development, debugging, refactoring, testing and documentation.

Define engineering standards, automated testing, CI/CD and quality controls to ensure AI-generated code is reliable and maintainable.

Coach developers on how to work effectively with AI coding tools and agentic development workflows.

Work closely with Product, Project Managers, Business Analysts and Presales teams to ensure solutions are technically feasible and successfully delivered.

Mentor engineers and continuously improve the team's engineering capability, development velocity and technical practices.

What We Are Looking For

Around 6–10 years of software engineering experience, including experience leading developers or owning technical delivery.

Strong hands‑on software development and architecture background.

Proven experience building and delivering production software systems.

Strong understanding of APIs, databases, system integration, software architecture and cloud‑native development.

Strong problem‑solving, debugging and technical decision‑making skills.

Experience with modern engineering practices including Git, code review, automated testing and CI/CD.

Able to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment with evolving requirements.

Strong ownership mindset and willingness to remain hands‑on.

AI & Agentic Engineering Experience

Practical experience in some of the following will be highly advantageous:

Generative AI and Large Language Models

Agent orchestration and agentic workflows

Multi‑agent systems

Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG)

Tool / function calling

Prompt and context engineering

Human‑in‑the‑loop systems

AI evaluation, observability and guardrails

AI coding agents and agentic software development

Experience with LangGraph or similar agentic orchestration frameworks is advantageous.

Technical Experience

Experience with some of the following technologies is preferred:

Node.js / TypeScript

Python

Vue.js or other modern frontend frameworks

MongoDB or other databases

REST APIs / Webhooks

Microservices

CI/CD

You do not need to match every technology listed. Strong engineering fundamentals, technical leadership and the ability to learn quickly are more important.
