Job summary

A leading semiconductor company in Kedah, Malaysia, is seeking an experienced engineer to coordinate cross-functional teams in introducing new projects. You will review customer specifications, support prototype development, and ensure the completion of all necessary documentation. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has experience in semiconductor manufacturing. Job description

Coordinate cross-functional teams (production, quality) to introduce new projects and assemblies.

Review customer drawings and specifications to evaluate technical feasibility.

Support prototype development, first-article builds, and transfer to full-scale production.

Ensure all NPI documentation (process flows, POR, work instructions) is completed.

Analyse customer RFQs and prepare detailed cost estimates and technical quotations.

Evaluate labor time, material usage, machine processes, and tooling requirements specific to quartz fabrication.

Liaise with purchasing for pricing of specialized materials.

Ensure technical quotations align with company pricing strategy and margin expectations.

Interpret and review quartz component designs for manufacturability and tolerances (e.g., flatness, concentricity, surface finish).

Provide support during customer technical discussions, audits, and design changes.

Collaborate with production teams to solve technical or process-related issues.

Maintain accurate BOMs, routings, CAD models, work instructions, process documentation and technical specifications.

Handle technical discussions, participate in audits, and implement design changes effectively.

Undertake other roles & responsibilities that are assigned by immediate superior from time to time.

Requirements

Minimum Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.

Experience in a technical engineering role, ideally in semiconductor, or precision manufacturing industries.

Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and transitioning products from prototype to mass production.

Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and customer specifications (GD&T, tolerances like flatness, concentricity, surface finish).

Strong understanding of manufacturability principles and design for manufacturing (DFM).

Familiar with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)

Excellent communication skills for engaging with customers and internal stakeholders.
