Job summary

PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) is seeking a senior geophysicist to lead seismic interpretation, prospect evaluation, and exploration planning in Malaysia. The role includes guiding a team, planning wells, and ensuring strict SSHE policy compliance across all exploration activities.

Initial focus includes coordinating seismic acquisition and processing planning, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining high-quality discussions to drive project success.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team to perform seismic interpretation over the acquired seismic cubes for both structural and stratigraphic markers.
• Define all potential prospects from exploration campaigns and rank them using geological and geophysical evaluation.
• Plan and propose exploration wells at the best locations.
• Lead the team in evaluating and monitoring exploration activities of the project.
• Assist management in seismic acquisition and processing planning, including geophysical studies such as QI.
• Assist manager in planning and monitoring departmental work plans and budgets, maintaining procedures for efficiency and capability in exploration geophysics.
• Coach and develop junior staff, conduct technical training to enhance geophysical knowledge.
• Ensure quality of team discussions and decisions.
• Promote the implementation of the company’s SSHE policy and regulations in all responsibilities.

Job description

• Lead the team to perform seismic interpretation over the acquired seismic cubes for any additional seismic markers for both structural and stratigraphic.
• Lead the team to define all potential prospects from exploration campaign and carry out the prospect evaluation and ranking by both geological and geophysical evaluation
• Plan and propose exploration wells on the best locations.
• Lead team in evaluating and monitoring exploration activities of the project.
• Assist the management in seismic acquisition and processing planning including all geophysical study e.g. QI study.
• Assist manager in planning and monitoring departmental work plans/ budget as well as maintain appropriate working procedures and methodology for efficiency and capability development. Also ensure the high capability and update of technology on exploration geophysics.
• Coach, motivate, and develop junior staff in order to improve their geophysical skills to fulfill their job requirements. Conduct technical training to enhance basic and advance geophysical knowledge to the team.
• Ensure quality of team discussion and decisions.
• Promote the implementation of Company’s SSHE policy and regulations in all works under responsibility.
