Purpose of the Position
Safe & reliable operation of multiple ASU & ECOVAR plants being operated from the RSE ROC in Malaysia. The role also includes plant optimisation, production changes, power management, handling process disturbances, alarm management, plant shutdowns and restarts.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead the stations with the station's shift engineers reporting to this incumbent. Strive to meet operational, process safety and personnel productivity targets for him and his team.
- Recruitment / replacement of shift engineers and working closely with the people competency team in ensuring that competency development of the shift engineers is happening. Responsible in conducting TNA, development of his team for higher skills & learning new tools.
- Responsible for the initial optimisations and improvement in performance; monitoring, identify gaps and taking required actions for immediately brining back performance.
- Support on-duty shift engineers during any plant troubleshooting, process upset & plant restarts.
- Lead the investigations, conduct the RCA, develop lesson learned and share the same with team.
- Initiate & manage MOC application (till closure) for any process, safety, efficiency & reliability enhancement.
- Work closely with Performance Engineers to ensure plant operations is in efficient and optimum mode.
- Responsible for alarm reduction so that station is managed efficiently to prevent human error. This includes all alarms including process safety by tuning of the controllers (taking help from ROC plant commissioning/ROC process automation /others team as required).
- Involve in developing the Auto Start-up (AST) of plant and support APCS team in commissioning the AST.
- Drive the culture of AST continuous improvements and close points of AST continuous improvement.
- Ensure all process documentations (PFD, startup procedures/design cases/datasheets) are up-to-date for both existing and new plants. Make the documentation readily available to all ROC engineers.
- Responsibility for new plants --Prepare start up and operational procedure for a smooth transition of new plants to ROC.
- Proactively communicate with respective plant managers on topics which require site intervention to improve plant performance and resolve operational issues.
- Proactively in escalating / highlighting any major issue to next appropriate level.
- Innovate, support and drive power reduction & product recovery projects by taking help from various experts apart from own/team initiatives.
- Responsible for overall development of the team (shift engineers).

Required Qualifications/Experience
- At least 6 years in process plant related operations role, particularly in ASU & ECOVAR plant process knowledge.
- Graduate with a suitable engineering degree and extensive hands‑on industrial experience in a similar role.
