Job summary

Polymorph Recruitment client in Malaysia seeks an Assistant Manager/Manager to lead the tax team, provide advisory support, and manage key client and LHDN relationships. The role requires supervising staff, identifying planning opportunities and staying updated with tax legislation.

The candidate should have a degree in accounting or taxation, CTIM or equivalent, and at least 5 years of tax experience, with Mandarin proficiency. Strong leadership and client-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Taxation; CTIM or equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience, including supervisory experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of Malaysian corporate and personal tax, including audit and appeal handling.
• Confident presenting to and advising clients.
• Proficient in Mandarin (spoken and written) to liaise with Mandarin-speaking clients.
• Strong leadership and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and finalise tax computations, returns and advisory papers before client delivery.
• Present tax positions, planning options and audit outcomes to clients.
• Manage tax audits, appeals and correspondence with LHDN.
• Supervise, train and develop the tax team.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and advisory value-adds for clients.
• Keep the department up to date with changes in tax legislation.
