Key Duties
  • To support the Head of Department in ensuring all teachers aspire to high standards in teaching and learning, reflect regularly on their practice, and follow policies and procedures set out by the School and the department.
  • To monitor the quality of teaching and learning within the designated subject area or key stage, working alongside the Head of Department to address issues and ensure continuous improvement.
  • To gather and respond to student feedback to support planning of teaching and learning within the subject area.
  • To contribute to department meetings and share relevant updates from the designated subject area or key stage.
  • To support the induction and mentoring of new staff within the subject area, as required.
  • To support the Head of Department in ensuring safe practices are followed in lessons, activities, and trips linked to the designated subject area or key stage.
  • To assist the Head of Department in ensuring effective data collection, analysis, and use of internal and external data to improve outcomes for students in the designated subject area or key stage.
  • To oversee the setting, marking, and moderation of assessments within the designated subject area or key stage, as agreed with the Head of Department.
  • To support the Head of Department in ensuring accurate and timely submission of examination entries and predicted grades.
  • To take responsibility for maintaining and updating the written curriculum for the designated subject area or key stage, ensuring it meets the needs of all students and aligns with school policies.
  • To provide input to curriculum development across the department.
  • To contribute to the promotion of the subject, encouraging uptake at IGCSE and A Level.
  • To identify resource needs for the designated subject area or key stage and inform the Head of Department accordingly.
  • To support the Head of Department in ensuring learning spaces linked to the subject area are well-maintained and promote a 'love of learning.'
  • To contribute to the department development plan and strategic planning for the subject area or key stage.
  • To follow and promote departmental policies as set by the Head of Department.
  • To keep up to date with research, innovations, and trends within the subject area and in teaching and learning.
  • To maintain knowledge of university entrance requirements for relevant courses.
  • To perform other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Department or Head of Secondary
