Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to support the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and CSSS, ensuring adherence to nursing care goals and patient safety standards.

The role involves coordinating with the Unit Manager and cardiologists, guiding patients through procedures, documenting care, educating patients and families, and maintaining supplies and accurate charges, delivering compassionate care before, during and after treatment in a dynamic hospital

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with Malaysia license.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to nursing care vision and objectives; performs shift duties as assigned by Unit Manager to ensure high-quality care.
• Notifies Unit Manager of changes impacting care standards.
• Collaborates with Unit Manager to ensure smooth operation of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and CSSS daily.
• Works with ward staff to ensure timely arrival of patients to the catheterization laboratory.
• Accompanies patients to catheterization lab rooms and recovery area and records cases in the lab logbook.
• Prepares the catheterization lab room by checking items, preparing trolleys and equipment, and ensuring consent and checklists are complete.
• Follows patient safety goals and identifies patients accurately, preparing them for procedures and referring to cardiologist as needed.
• Collaborates with Cardiologist and other doctors to discuss procedure approaches and patient care preferences.
• Provides comprehensive cardiac care including patient education and counseling before, during, and after treatment.
• Participates in patient and family health education and hospital activities; communicates clearly, compassionately, and culturally.
• Collaborates with Unit Manager in administration and setting care standards; assists in absence of Unit Manager and handles assigned tasks.
• Accurately records charges for equipment and consumables and verifies completeness.
• Inspects and documents sterile pack supplies to maintain packaging integrity and stock levels from CSSS.

1. Adherence to nursing care vision, mission, goals, and objectives, aligns with the scope of nursing services and performs shift duties as assigned by the Unit Manager to ensure high-quality care rendered.

2. Notifies the unit manager of any changes in the situation that could impact the standards of care.

3. Collaborate with the Unit Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and central sterile supply services (CSSS) daily.

4. Collaborate with ward staff to ensure patients arrive at the cardiac catheterization laboratory room on time, thereby optimizing the utilization of the cardiac catheterization laboratory.

5. Accompany patients into the cardiac catheterization laboratory rooms and recovery room safely before they are sent to the ward/critical care services, and record all cases in the cardiac catheterization laboratory record book.

6. Provide the catheterization laboratory room ready for use by checking and preparing the items following the list of cardiac procedures for the day, receiving patients, evaluating the condition of the patient, and comparing it with the report, checking consent, performing the checklist, and preparing trolleys, equipment, and standby items for use.

7. Adherence to Patient Safety Goals; Save Surgery Save Live involves accurately identifying patients, preparing them for procedures, checking patients with staff, noting abnormalities, and referring patients to the cardiologist if necessary.

8. Collaborate with the Cardiologist and other relevant doctors/consultants to discuss procedure approaches and patient care preferences in the unit/ward.

9.Provides comprehensive cardiac care, including patient education and counseling, works closely with other healthcare professionals, and is responsible for patient care before, during, and after treatment.

1. Participates in patient and family health education in the ward/critical care services, unit meetings, dialogue sessions, hospital activities, and other specialized technical assistance services.

2. Provide clear, compassionate, and culturally sensitive communication with patients, ensuring their understanding of their condition, treatment options, and care plan comprehensively.

3. Collaborate with the unit manager in administration, setting care standards, and fulfilling duties in the absence of the unit manager, while also carrying out assigned tasks and providing feedback.

4. Charge accurately, incorporating charges for equipment and consumable items into the patient’s charges and verifying their completeness.

5. Inspect and document the supply of sterile packs to ensure the integrity of the packaging and maintain an adequate supply of unit stock from central sterile supply services.

Job Requirement

Registered with Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
