Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Malaysia is looking for an Operating Theatre Staff Nurse to assist doctors in surgical procedures, provide patient care, and manage clinical tasks. Candidates must possess a recognized nursing diploma and a valid practicing license in Malaysia, with 2-3 years of experience preferred. The role requires strong communication skills, especially in Mandarin to liaise with clients. This position offers opportunities in a fast-paced medical environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Valid Malaysia Nursing Board Practicing License.
• Minimum 2-3 years of nursing experience in Medical Specialist or IVF Clinic settings.
• Experience in an operating theater or anesthesia unit is a plus.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Assist doctor in preparation that patients’ case-notes for daily outpatient visit
• Assist doctor on physical clinical examination
• Conduct patient's counselling on financial fees and related surgical & treatment procedures
• Dispense medication to patient and billing when needed
• Perform clinical nursing care procedure e.g. wound dressing, post surgical care advice and etc

Surgery Management

• Prepare and conduct checks on surgical items, medical equipment and instrument before a surgical procedure
• Administrate and prepare of patient for surgical procedure including pre-surgical briefing/ checks, taking of vital signs
• Provide assistance to doctor during minor clinical surgery and procedure
• Monitor patients' condition and progress during their recovery
• Ensure all sharps and bio-hazards are properly disposed
• Prepare and pack surgical items/instrument for sterilization and disinfection
• Conduct routine stock check and expiry validation / replenish of surgical, medical and other supplies

Requirements

• Minimum a Diploma in Nursing or equivalent (Recognized by Malaysia Nursing Board) with Valid Malaysia Nursing Board Practicing License
• Minimum 2-3 years nursing experience in Medical Specialist /IVF Clinic settings
• Possessed a valid OT / AU certificate or Hospital Testimonial will be an advantage
• Experience working in an operating theater / anesthesia unit will be considered an advantage
• Service oriented and enjoy interaction with people
• Mandarin speaker preferred to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
