Job Description

As the Staff Engineer at Wash Manufacturing Engineering, the role is to drive operational excellence in the Wash process team, especially related to process optimization with quality control. Will work closely with production and cross‑functional teams to ensure the delivery of high‑quality products in alignment with customer quality targets. In this role, you need to oversee engineering changes, facilitate continuous improvement projects, and collaborate with related teams to enhance product quality and reduce costs. A key part of manufacturing engineering responsibilities is to deliver products to customers at committed functionality, reliability, time, volume, and cost.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee and sustain yield and quality from after Polish until finish product NPP.
  • Drive real‑time collaboration with production and cross‑functional teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of high‑quality outputs in alignment with the business plan.
  • Lead improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost optimization, productivity, and sustainability, driving measurable results that contribute to business growth and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with the QA team and Media‑HDD partners to gather and analyze product performance data, driving continuous improvement and providing actionable insights to internal teams.
  • Guide a team of normal/shift technicians to align with and achieve department goals and values.
  • Respond to in‑process quality issues and focus on customer feedback and complaints.
  • Monitor, review and trigger Wash key performance input/output indicators (KPIV/ KPOV).
  • Work hand‑in‑hand with other department engineers on yield, PPH, quality troubleshooting, utilization and improvement activities.
  • Actively work on second source qualification.
  • Involve in IMS audits and in‑process control audit.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences.

Preferred:

  • HDD Substrate manufacturing experience.

Skill:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Excellent project management skills and yield troubleshooting.
  • Self‑motivated, goal oriented, and able to work equally well in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Systematic problem‑solving methodology: Six Sigma, 8D, DMAIC, FMEA, Fish Bone Diagram, etc.
  • Strong fundamentals in chemical, electronic, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Applies FMEA and statistical methods to gauge manufacturing requirements and potential risk.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with an extremely positive attitude toward teamwork.
