Job summary

Enovix Corporation in Penang seeks a senior laser-process engineer to develop and sustain laser-based manufacturing for Li-ion battery cells. You will design tooling, run DOE experiments, analyze data, and drive improvements to meet performance goals.

You will lead process integration, establish SPC, craft control plans, and deliver data-driven results to stakeholders while maintaining a strong quality mindset and project schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Control Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline field required (10+ years of work experience and/or Master’s and Ph. D preferred).
• Experience with laser processing of battery materials preferred.
• Strong knowledge of laser operating principles and laser-material interactions.
• Ability to analyze process data and summarize actionable insights.
• Proven program management skills with deadlines and milestones.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with SPC, DOE, FMEA and 8D methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain laser-based processes that achieve product and process performance goals through understanding of process and equipment design and laser-material interactions.
• Devise process yield and UPH improvements plans based on fundamentals of laser-material interaction chemistry and physics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop process and tooling for next generation cell designs for large-scale manufacturing.
• Decide, and down-select individual cell components that enable final product performance and reliability requirements.
• Design and run experiments based on DOE methodologies on Enovix test vehicles to meet technology roadmap.
• Analyze and summarize performance metrics via data analysis tools such as JMP.
• Develop SPC for critical process parameters and establish Process Capability (Cpk) and develop Power BI dashboards.
• Quality mindset with continuous improvement and proactive problem solving.
• Perform FMEA and root-cause analysis when necessary to achieve design goals.
• Create laser CAD drawings for final product requirements.
• Create and execute project plans and drive projects to completion on schedule.
• Deliver final product, data-driven analyses on schedule and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Create and maintain Work Instructions, OCAP, FMEA and Control Plan per QMS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Control Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline field required (10+ years of work experience and/or Master’s and Ph. D preferred).
• Working experience in any automation processing techniques. Preference given to individuals with specific knowledge of laser processing of anode/cathode materials used in Li-ion battery manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of laser operating principles and laser-material interactions.
• Demonstrated capability to effectively analyze process data and extract/summarize meaningful information.
• Demonstrated technical program management skills such as meeting deadlines and milestones as well as excellent communication skills such as summarizing data and writing reports
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams to solve complex multi-disciplinary problems required.
• Familiarity with SPC, DOE, FMEA and 8D methodologies required.
• Demonstrated creative and critical thinking ability and attention to detail highly desired.
• Proven track-record of process integration in the scale-up of R&D processes to high-volume manufacturing desired
