Job summary

WD is seeking a detail-oriented Sputter Target Management and Quality Engineer for our Penang, Malaysia site. You will oversee sputter target inventory, ensure quality standards, and optimize material specifications to support semiconductor and advanced materials manufacturing operations.

You will collaborate with production, procurement, and engineering teams to maintain the highest quality, conduct root cause analyses, implement corrective actions, and drive process improvements in line with

Qualifications

• Background in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Physics or related technical field.
• At least 2 years of working experience.
• Experience in the semiconductor or advanced materials manufacturing industry.
• Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
• Experience in vendor management and supplier quality negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to resolve quality concerns, negotiate specifications, and ensure continuous improvement in material delivery.
• Manage Sputter Target inventory, including procurement planning, stock level optimization, and supplier coordination to ensure consistent material availability.
• Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and testing protocols for Sputter Target materials to meet Sputter Media specifications and process requirements.
• Conduct comprehensive quality inspections and analysis of incoming materials, including dimensional verification, material composition analysis, and surface quality assessment.
• Perform root cause analysis on quality issues and non-conformances, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain detailed records and documentation of all quality testing, material certifications, and compliance data in accordance with ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze quality data and trends using statistical methods to identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
• Support production teams by providing technical guidance on material handling, storage, and application best practices for sputter targets.
