Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site role for an SMT Process Engineer, based in Johor Bahru. The role involves overseeing and optimizing Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes to ensure high‑quality, efficient production. Responsibilities include troubleshooting process‑related issues, implementing improvements, coordinating equipment maintenance, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The engineer will work closely with cross‑functional teams to enhance production workflows and support product launches.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of SMT processes, PCBA soldering & assembly processes
• Knowledge in SMT machines and soldering machines programming is a bonus
• Experience with process optimization, troubleshooting, and implementing improvements in manufacturing environments
• Monitor process capability (CPK/PPK) and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by validating SMT processes for new designs
• Maintain accurate records of equipment settings, process flows, work instructions and product configurations
• Ensure compliance with IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001, and internal quality standards
• Experience in IATF 16949 standards is a bonus
• Generate technical reports and support audits and customer reviews
• 3–6 years of experience in SMT manufacturing or product engineering
• Strong understanding of PCB design and SMT assembly processes
• Familiar with statistical analysis tools (SPC, DOE, FMEA, Minitab, JMP)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electronics, or related field) or equivalent work experience
• Experience in EMS/manufacturing industries is highly desirable
