Job summary

A leading electronic manufacturing firm in Malaysia is looking for an experienced Back-End Process Engineer. In this role, you will oversee and optimize back-end processes such as wave soldering and selective soldering, ensuring all quality standards are met. Applicants must have a degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of related experience. You will collaborate with various teams and maintain quality in test processes.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimise back‑end processes such as wave soldering, selective wave soldering, router, heat staking, thermal grease, and conformal coating line.
• Ensure all external outsource jobs are carried out according to requirements and quality standards.
• Respond to SMT back‑end line issues and internal/external quality feedback.
• Troubleshoot the SMT back‑end process root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Control component drop pages at the machine.
• Carry out solder‑ability tests for expired components, attach deviation reports when still usable, or scrap failed components.
• Prepare ROI as required by senior staff, especially technical terms on machine specifications.
• Prepare minor SMT layouts when needed.
• Schedule and implement preventive maintenance on all test fixtures/jigs at backend test.
• Champion all NPI tests for new product test capability.
• Maintain customer properties checklist and calibration requirements at backend test.
• Work with customers to analyse all test‑related issues and improvement plans.
• Collaborate with customers on new test software and firmware releases.
• Provide training to all test technicians in terms of hardware and software.
• Work closely with the Process team and test capacity to fulfil customer's requirements.
• Work closely with the Product team to resolve test issues in production.
• Support the Production team on all test‑related issues.
• Develop test schemes based on customer product testing requirements.

Qualifications

• Preferably a degree or diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Must have at least 5 years of similar working experience.
• Good supervisory skills to lead the SMT technician team.
• Able to work independently and as a team player.
• Knowledge of SPC and quality standards.
• Experience in 5 M’s (Machine, Man, Method, Material & Money).
• Possess programming/line‑balancing skills for pick and place machines.
