Overview
JOB OBJECTIVES:
To lead and oversee day-to-day operations at multiple mining sites ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable extraction of mineral resources. This role is accountable for operational planning, production performance & efficiencies, site team leadership, safety and full compliance with internal policies and statutory regulations. The Site Operations Manager plays a key role in optimizing output & efficiency, controlling costs, managing site teams, and supporting the group’s long-term mining strategy.
Key Accountabilities
Operational Execution & Oversight
- Manage and coordinate mining activities across designated sites to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Guide Supervisors to support in drilling, blasting, excavation, hauling, stockpiling, and processing operations in line with engineering and safety protocols.
- Consolidate, review mine plans, production reports, and coordinate with central planning, geologist & exploration, engineering and logistics / procurement teams to ensure data are validated and correct. Translate raw data into meaningful data to the management team.
- Ensure site operations are in proper state to operate at optimal state.
Team Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead site teams including supervisors, operators, mechanics, and general workers
- Build a high-performance culture through clear role definitions, continuous coaching, and on-the-ground problem solving.
- Collaborate with HR on workforce planning, training, and performance management.
Production & Cost Efficiency (Process Improvement)
- Monitor production KPIs and ensure site productivity meets or exceeds benchmarks.
- Control site-level operating costs and improve efficiency of manpower, machinery, and material usage.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement improvement plans.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare & submit relevant weekly, and monthly production and safety reports to HQ. Update management on happenings on the site and ground regularly.
- Maintain comprehensive records on production output, equipment status, site inspections, and compliance audits. Ensure data and reports are validated.
- Support external reporting to regulatory bodies and certification boards as required.
HSE & Regulatory Compliance (partner with Safety Officer)
- Implement and enforce OUS Group’s Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies on-site.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements from authorities including DOSH, JMG, OSHA and DOE.
- Lead/ follow-up safety briefings, audits, risk assessments, and emergency response drills.
- Drive zero-incident culture and environmental stewardship across sites.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Maintenance, Geologist & Exploration, Engineering, Procurement, QA/QC, Exploration team and Logistics / Warehousing & Purchasing teams to ensure smooth, uninterrupted site operations.
The Requirement & Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Material Science, Control System in Mineral Processing or related
- Minimum 8-10 years in mining operations, with 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Experienced in quarry or mineral mining is highly preferred.
- Experienced in Business Process Improvement and structured documentation of process flow, work manual and playbook.
- Experienced in Mine planning, production tracking, equipment usage, safety systems
- Ability to display problem-solving, cost control, leadership & team management
- Language : Bahasa Malaysia & English. Additional local language will be an advantage.
