Job description

Overview

Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of manual, automatic or semi-automatic machines used in the production of the company's product. Works from process sheets or written/verbal instructions given by supervisor to perform production tasks. Checks and inspects operation against predetermined tolerances. Requires, simple oral communication skills, visual acuity, manual dexterity and successful completion of on-the-job training.

Duties and Responsibilities

Pre-production activities:

• Ensure your schedule is up to date for the day ahead and that you have all relevant information required to produce work correctly; job bag, plate bag, proofs etc…
• Ensure job material and press consumables are ready for each job as required; screens are ready, mix inks, stock in order etc…
• Make sure all previous work is clearly separated to ensure no mixing of jobs or waste.

Production:

• Make ready of press
• Stock control for each job; including stock preparation, production, and segregation of waste.
• Attainment of client requirements by match to proof, sample, or previous card.
• Report any quality concerns to team leaders/managers as well as documentation on job bag for next department.
• Assistance with colour management strategies as required.
• Make sure all paperwork associated with the job is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assist with managing space requirements within the pressroom by relocation of completed jobs.

Other duties:

• Assistance with monitoring stock and consumable levels as required
• Delegation of duties to those within your team and under your responsibility
• To work as a team for the success of the CGC department and HID as a whole
• Housekeeping of pressroom to a high standard
• Assistance with troubleshooting and rectifying print-related problems and rejects.
• To assist managers and team leaders as required for benefit of production.

Requirements

• Minimum Certificate/Diploma in Manufacturing, Printing Technology. or related field
• Preferred experience 1-2 years in printing industry
• Good hand-eye coordination
