Job Title: Shipping Executive (Tanker Vessel Operations)

Role Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Shipping Executive to support our tanker vessel operations. The role focuses on ensuring fast, safe, and efficient vessel turnaround at load and discharge ports, directly contributing to cost savings and overall operational profitability.

Purpose of the Position

To maximize company revenue by minimizing vessel port time and ensuring seamless operational coordination. The position plays a key role in achieving efficient cargo operations, timely updates, loss prevention, and overall operational excellence.

Key Interfaces

Internal: Head of Shipping & Logistics, Trade Managers, Documentation Officers, Accounts Department
External: Vessel Owners, Surveyors, Port/Shipping Agents, Terminal Operators, Port Authorities, Cargo Receivers

Key Responsibilities
1. Vessel Turnaround & Operational Coordination
  • Coordinate with Terminal Operators, Port Authorities, Cargo Receivers, Shipping Agents, and Vessel Masters to ensure smooth vessel operations and quick turnaround.

  • Monitor vessel schedules and keep all stakeholders updated on vessel rotation and ETA changes.

  • Ensure vessels berth and commence discharge/loading immediately upon arrival.

  • Oversee documentation processes, cargo sampling, and analysis to avoid operational delays.

  • Conduct performance reviews of current discharge/loading operations and identify improvement opportunities, including:

    • Increasing number of discharge/load connections

    • Optimizing pressure

    • Increasing truck allocation and throughput

2. Loss Prevention & Quality Control
  • Lead Loss Prevention efforts to ensure cargo outturn is maintained within the 0.3% tolerance limit.

  • Monitor cargo custody transfer to ensure accuracy in quantity and quality based on industry standards.

  • Verify ship/shore tank measurements using properly calibrated equipment.

  • Resolve disputes immediately at site and provide timely updates to internal teams and clients.

  • Monitor critical loss areas such as:

    • Line displacement verification

    • Ship/shore valve integrity

    • Inter-tank leakage

    • Vessel performance

    • Oil spills

    • B/L overstatement

    • Sampling and analysis procedures

Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related fields.

  • Minimum 1–3 years experience in vessel operations, tanker operations, or shipping/logistics preferred.

  • Strong coordination and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of tanker operations, port procedures, and cargo handling is an advantage.

  • Able to work under pressure, make quick decisions, and handle operational challenges proactively.
