Job summary

A global leader in testing instrumentation is seeking an experienced Service Engineer/Service Manager for its new service hub in Malaysia. You will manage technical service operations, lead efforts towards ISO 17025 accreditation, and maintain comprehensive documentation. The role involves close collaboration with the global service team and requires hands-on skills in electronics, optics, or instrumentation. Candidates should have a diploma or bachelor's degree in relevant fields and experience in service or calibration labs. Willingness to travel is also necessary.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of service or calibration lab experience.
  • ISO 17025 experience is a strong advantage.
  • Strong hands-on skills with electronics, optics, or instrumentation.

Job description

BYK-Gardner, a global leader in appearance, color and physical testing instrumentation is setting up its Asia Service hub in Malaysia. We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Service Engineer/Service Manager who can independently manage technical service operations and lead the hub toward ISO 17025 accreditation.

You will work closely with our global service team in Germany and distributors across the Asia‑Pacific region.

Main Responsibilities

Service Operations & Technical Support

Repair, calibrate and certify BYK instruments

Perform optical, mechanical and electronic calibrations

Diagnose and resolve technical issues

ISO 17025 Accreditation & Quality

Lead accreditation efforts and maintain all required documentation

Conduct internal audits and implement CAPA

Regional Coordination

Align with BYK‑Gardner Germany on procedures, standards and KPIs.

Coordinate service workflows and shipments within Asia

Customer Service & Reporting

Communicate with customers and distributors on repair status and findings.

Maintain SAP/Sales force service records and prepare monthly reports

Requirements

Diploma/bachelor's in electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/Physics

5‑8 years of service or calibration lab experience

ISO 17025 experience is a strong advantage.

Strong hand‑on skills with electronics, optics or instrumentation.

Independent, structured and detailed working style.

Willing to travel (including to Germany for training)
