Responsibilities and Duties
Plant Maintenance / Operations
- Report to foreman or immediate superior on work related issues and defects as well as troubleshooting based on related expertise (competency).
- Perform assigned routine or non-routine task (analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and etc.).
- Lead, plan, train and review the routine work on chemical and physical analysis of boiler feedwater, wastewater to ensure compliance with water quality guidelines.
- Plan, direct and participate in the collection of water samples.
- Train assigned employees in their areas of work including routine chemical and physical analytical methods, procedures and techniques.
- Comply with all safety, health, environmental, and Quality Management System requirements, policies, and procedures relevant to the position.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed, proper tools are used, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) are used and methods of handling of works are adhered.
- Verify work of assigned for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
- Assist in preparing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instruction (WI).
- Assist Laboratory Supervisor and Chemist in assessment and procurement, troubleshoot, clean and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Cooperate with the other department for troubleshooting purposes.
- Ensure all plant equipment and analyser are in good working order and maintain in efficient manner at all times.
- Assist the Supervisor in reporting any defect and abnormality to Unit Engineer/Unit Operator for rectification by relevant Maintenance Section.
Other Ad-Hoc Assignments
- Standby and work outside office hour or during emergency cases (on-call basis).
- Perform other additional tasks that are relevant and necessary to accomplish company overall objective, which may be assigned from time to time including activities in absent of Chemical & Environmental Services ("CES") engineer or technician.

Qualification and competency (License)
- a) Diploma in Chemical Engineering or;
- b) Diploma in Applied Science or equivalent from recognized universities / higher learning institutes.
- Minimum Mandatory Certified Competency (License) required
- a) Authorized Entrant and Standby Person (AESP).
Work Experience
- Minimum years of working experience related to the work scope:
- a) Fresh graduates or with 1 year working experience in laboratory or any related fields.
- b) Familiarity with coal-fired power plant system and equipment experienced in related fields namely laboratory water analysis and etc.
- c) Experience in laboratory environment, equipment, analysers and plant works.
- d) Knowledgeable in Chemistry, Science Material and Water Analysis.
Skills and Behaviour Traits
- Ability and willingness to be available to work "on-call"
- Hands on with analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of Thermal Power Plant processes and operations.
- Basic computer literacy.
