Senior Technical Service Chemist

Salary Range: RM 6,500 – RM 8,500 (based on qualifications and skills)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Service Chemist to join our team and drive technical excellence in paints and coatings across Southeast Asia. This role combines hands‑on formulation expertise with strong customer engagement to deliver innovative solutions and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and test paint and coating systems using resin products; provide technical data and solutions to support business development.
- Develop application methods and evaluate competitive products aligned with sales and marketing strategies.
- Collaborate with sales teams and visit customers to propose technical solutions, resolve application issues, and ensure product performance.
- Manage application lab operations to the highest standards, including housekeeping, inventory control, equipment calibration, and waste management.
- Ensure compliance with HSEQ policies (ISO 14001, ISO 45001), conduct risk assessments, and promote safety culture.
- Provide presales and after‑sales technical support across Southeast Asia for diverse coating applications (decorative, industrial, protective) and construction markets.
- Create technical literature, training materials, and marketing tools; conduct product training for sales teams, agents, and distributors.
Key Criteria
- 5–8 years of R&D experience in the paints and coatings industry, with knowledge of solvent-based and water-based systems.
- Strong customer-facing confidence and ability to represent the company’s technical excellence professionally.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage confidently with customers.
- Willingness to travel across Southeast Asia and work from Pasir Gudang.
- Working hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (flexibility to work weekends/public holidays when necessary).
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry or related science discipline.
- Technical experience in paints, coatings, inks, or construction chemicals.
- Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
