Job summary

TIME dotCom Berhad in Malaysia is seeking a proactive Senior Subsea Engineer to co-manage submarine cable investments, coordinating across technical, operational, and financial aspects to maximize value for the company.

You will act as a relationship manager for consortiums and projects, ensure on-time deliverables, manage on-site supports, budgeting, and contract reviews while collaborating with global partners and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field.
  • Minimum 5 years in a subsea or international network experience.
  • Good knowledge of fibre optic technology.

Responsibilities

  • Co-manage submarine cable investments to maximize technical, operational, and financial benefits.
  • Act as relationship manager for consortiums and projects.
  • Ensure all deliverables, reports, and site-access tasks are completed on time.
  • Plan, manage and implement technical and operational requirements at cable stations.
  • Review budget planning and manage approved budgets and payments.
  • Review and prepare relevant contracts and agreements with stakeholders.
  • Proactively optimize costs and drive cost reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to support proposals for new/upgraded submarine cable projects.
  • Assist Sales with network solutions when needed.
  • Engage with Finance, Regulatory, Legal, and Corporate Office Affairs as required.

Job description

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Subsea Engineer to join our team at TIME. In this role, you will co-manage submarine cable investments to maximize technical, operational, and financial benefits for the company. You will act as a relationship manager for consortiums and projects, ensure smooth operations, and support new subsea initiatives.

  • Ensure all deliverables and tasks towards the cable consortiums/projects are met on timely and efficient manner such as regular and ad-hoc reports, managing on-site supports, importations processes, site-access for vendors etc.
  • To efficiently and effectively co-manage the operation & maintenance aspects of all subsea systems, with other teams to sustain its competitiveness and strategic importance to Company including participation in meetings by the relevant committees in the cable consortium(s) or project(s).
  • Responsible for ensuring all billing milestones and invoice payments are met within expected timeline and in compliance with process established within the Company.
  • To plan, manage and implement all technical and operational requirements at cable stations to sufficiently support the existing, future upgraded and new cable systems.
  • Review for accurate budgetary planning and wisely manage and control of the approved Budget includes ensuring all payments are processed within the most predictable budgeting timeline.
  • Ensure relevant agreements or contracts to be reviewed and prepared in timely manner, with full clarity on aspects that may affect the Company’s interest and with clear communications to relevant stakeholders in the Company.
  • Proactively optimize and reduce costs on an ongoing basis, including internal initiative for cost optimization.
  • Work across multiple teams internally to support proposal(s) for new and/or upgrading of submarine cable project for management’s considerations to meet business needs.
  • Occasionally, to assist Sales teams internally to formulate and establish network solutions for customer.
  • All other reasonable tasks required to deliver the role, as the industry landscape and business priorities evolve.
  • Active engagement with other departments in the Company such as Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Corporate Office Affairs and others, while delivering and executing tasks described above related to submarine cable systems owned by the Company.
To be considered, you’ll need
  • Education:Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field.
  • Experience:Minimum 5 years in a subsea or international network experience.
  • Skills:
    • Good level of knowledge about fibre optic technology.
    • Project management.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse, cross functional teams internally and externally, at the international level.
    • Capability to correctly understand internal requirements and translate it into network requirements and feasible and actionable items.
    • Have experience working with multiple partners and suppliers in different time zones.
    • Extended technical knowledge of submarine cable systems is an added advantage.
