Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Robotic System Engineer to design, develop and support automation and robotic systems in advance semiconductor manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation and robotic systems, software development, network infrastructure, and factory systems support. This role involves end-to-end integration of automation and robotic systems, application and network management, and ownership of incident and problem management processes. The role also includes responsibility for documentation, testing, and training, with availability for both office and on-call hours.

Job Description
In your new role you will:

  • System Integration & Automation
    • Support automation and robotic systems (MCS, Low-level Controller system, Dispatching, traceability and monitoring tools) in semiconductor manufacturing.
    • Interface with vendors, factory operations, and internal engineering teams to implement hardware and software solutions.
    • Develop, configure, and maintain automation workflows across robotic handling, AMHS, and process equipment.
    • Document all integration plans, change logs, configuration details, and system designs.
    • Implement and support SECS/GEM communication protocols and REST integration
  • Software Support & Application Management
    • Design, develop, and maintain automation and robotics systems supporting Lights OUT manufacturing operations.
    • Manage SQL/NoSQL databases related to system logging, traceability, and automation analytics.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements, enhancements, and support needs.
    • Maintain software development documentation including architecture diagrams, source control logs, deployment guides, and user manuals.
    • Support SECS/GEM communication and REST integrations between systems.
  • Network & Infrastructure
    • Liaise with IT infrastructure teams to align network planning, configuration switches, wireless access points (APs), firewalls, server provisioning and load balancing setup.
    • Provide oversight on network configuration related to automation and robotic systems.
    • Ensure secure, stable, and high-performance connectivity.
    • Document network architecture, configurations, changes, and support procedures.
  • Factory Support, Incident & Problem Management
    • Provide level 2/2.5 support for incident response and escalation for automation and robotic systems issues in the factory.
    • Lead incident management activities including impact assessment, containment, resolution, recovery, and communication.
    • Conduct problem management by performing root cause analysis (RCA), developing corrective/preventive action plans, and tracking to closure.
    • Ensure proper documentation of incidents, problems, resolutions, and lessons learned for continuous improvement and compliance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors during critical issue resolution.
  • Testing, Validation & Training
    • Develop, execute functional and integration test plans and complete user acceptance test for new systems or software prior to factory deployment.
    • Support Operational & Performance documentation and compliance.
    • Conduct training sessions for engineers and operators on new tools, systems, or updated processes.
    • Prepare and update training materials, test records, and system validation documents.
  • Shift/On-Call Support
    • Provide support during normal office hours.
    • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide off-hours support, including weekends and holidays, as defined by the roster plan.


Your Profile
You are best equipped for this task if you have:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor automation systems with focus on Lights OUT automation, factory system architecture, and software development
  • Proven experience with Lights OUT Manufacturing, MCS, AMR/OHV, and stocker systems.
  • Strong software development background (e.g. Java, Python, C#, Docker and Microservices). Knowledge in VDA 5050 will be an advantage.
  • Experience with application/database management (e.g., MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with network systems, including configuration of switches, wireless APs, VLANs, and network troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience in incident and problem management processes, and tools.
  • Deep understanding of SECS/GEM communication protocols.
  • Excellent knowledge of REST API development and integration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Proactive mindset in identifying, escalating, and resolving operational issues.
  • Customer-focused and responsive to critical factory needs.
  • Working Conditions
    • Based in a Backend manufacturing setting.
    • Occasional travel may be required for vendor meetings or project deployment.
    • Must be available for on-call support as per rotation schedule.
