Job summary

Semtech in Ipoh, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Senior RF Test Engineer to join our Asia Engineering Team, supporting RF and Mixed-Signal semiconductor products including AMW and SIP. You will develop and implement comprehensive RF test solutions across NPI through mass production, collaborating with RF design, characterization, and product engineering to ensure performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of RF test engineering in semiconductor industry.
  • Proficiency in RF test methodologies, hardware schematics, and datasheet parameters.
  • Experience with automated RF test equipment (ATE) platforms, and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead RF test development for NPI programs from early sample stage through mass production release.
  • Collaborate with RF design, product engineering, and operations teams to drive NPI milestones.
  • Develop and optimize RF ATE programs and test hardware for production and characterization testing.
  • Analyze RF specifications from datasheets to create detailed ATE test plans and improve RF test methodologies.
  • Design RF probe and final test schematics; participate in hardware review meetings.
  • Collect and analyze RF device performance data; establish test limits through temperature characterization; correlate test parameters to system RF performance.
  • Support RMA verification and failure analysis; implement corrective actions to enhance RF test quality.
  • Identify and drive RF test time and cost reductions; support yield improvement and QA investigations across Asia Hub teams.

You will collaborate closely with RF design, characterization, and product engineering teams to ensure product performance, quality, and reliability meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead RF test development for NPI programs from early sample stage through mass production release, covering AMW and SIP product lines
  • Collaborate closely with RF design, product engineering, and operations teams to drive NPI milestones through Final Production Release
  • Develop and optimize RF ATE programs and test hardware for production and characterization testing – including Advantest V93K RFIM6/RFIM18, and other rack-and-stack RF test platforms
  • Analyze RF electrical specifications from device datasheets to create detailed ATE test plans and improve RF test methodologies.
  • Design RF probe and final test schematics; lead or participate in hardware review meetings with design and product teams.
  • Collect and analyze RF device performance data, establish test limits through temperature characterization, correlate test parameters against system-level RF performance, and perform production GR&R
  • Support RMA verification and failure analysis; implement corrective actions to enhance RF test quality and coverage.
  • Identify and drive RF test time and cost reductions; support yield improvement and sustaining activities including QA failure investigation, test escapes analysis, and RF best practices documentation. Serve as a key knowledge resource supporting Asia Hub RF capability development across Malaysia and Taiwan.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience in RF test engineering within the semiconductor industry.
  • Proficiency in developing RF test programs and hardware for automated RF test equipment (ATE) including Advantest V93K RFIM6/RFIM18 or equivalent platforms.
  • Ability to interpret RF hardware schematics, datasheet parameters, and RF device specifications.
  • Strong understanding of RF test methodology, debugging approaches, RF fundamentals (S-parameters, RSSI, SNR noise figure, EVM, ACLR), and mixed-signal testing.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation to drive RF yield improvements
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in English is preferred.
Desired Qualifications
  • Expertise in RF ATE platforms such as Advantest V93K RFIM6/RFIM18.
  • Experience with RF PCB design and RF hardware development tools
  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or similar programming languages for test automation
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-site, cross-functional Asia Hub team environment spanning Taiwan and Malaysia
  • Knowledge of DFT, DFM, RF measurement uncertainty, and 6-sigma principles
  • Strong statistical test background such as PAT, SBL, SYL; experience with RF correlation and GR&R methodologies preferred
