Job summary

A leading construction firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage contract documentation, prepare cost estimates, and oversee project budgets. The ideal candidate will have 3–6 years of experience in civil and infrastructure projects, strong analytical and negotiation skills, and a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying. This role requires excellent communication and leadership abilities, ensuring timely project completion within budget.

Job description

Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities (BQ), tender documents, and pricing schedules for infrastructure and civil works.

Assist in project feasibility studies and budget preparation.

Post-Contract Administration:

Manage contract documentation, variations, claims, and progress valuations.

Prepare and certify interim and final payments for contractors and suppliers.

Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and cash flow forecasts to ensure cost efficiency.

Conduct site visits to verify work progress and compliance with contract terms.

Identify and manage potential risks and claims, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.

Negotiate contractual terms and ensure compliance with local standards, laws, and company procedures.

Prepare cost reports and updates for management and clients.

Team & Client Coordination:

Supervise and mentor junior quantity surveyors and assistants.

Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors on commercial and contractual matters.

Support project managers in ensuring timely project completion within budget.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying.

Minimum 3–6 years of experience in quantity surveying for civil and infrastructure projects (roads, drainage, bridges, utilities, etc.).

Strong knowledge of standard Malaysian contract forms.

Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office (Excel, Word, Project).

Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.

Ability to work independently and lead a team under minimal supervision.

Strong commercial and contractual acumen.
