Job summary

A leading nutraceutical manufacturer in Selangor is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to manage New Product Introduction projects from concept to mass production. This role involves leading project planning, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and coordinating with various teams to ensure successful commercialization. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Engineering or Food Technology, five years of relevant experience, and strong project management skills. A comprehensive understanding of GMP, HACCP, and ISO standards is a plus.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of working experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, or related fields.
  • Experience in food or nutraceutical environments is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project engineering team for site CAPEX activities.
  • Manage project schedules and costs.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of various projects across manufacturing.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, vendors, and suppliers.

Candidate Requirements
  • Possess Degree in Engineering or Food Technology or as accepted by management.
  • At least five (5) years working experience in manufacturing industry – Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical or Process Industry, related field, or as accepted by management.

The Senior Project Engineer (NPI) is responsible for leading and managing New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from concept to mass production. This role oversees project planning, process and equipment readiness, cross‑functional coordination, trials and validation activities to ensure new products are introduced on time, within cost, and in compliance with quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements. The position works closely with Clients, R&D, QA, Production to ensure smooth scale‑up and successful commercialization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the project engineering team to achieve site CAPEX activities in accordance with the organization’s best practice, policies and procedures.
  • Creating and tracking the engineering development schedule and cost.
  • Managing project technical risks and issues.
  • On‑time delivery of different projects across the manufacturing process.
  • Ability to liaise with clients, vendors, contractors and external suppliers.
  • Communicate with cross‑functional team members identified for the project.
  • Ensure HSE considerations are met and compliance with HACCP and GMP standards are adhered to.
  • Core responsibility to ensure effective execution of new product launch or introduction of new technology and/or production center. This involves initiative of project planning and strategy right from development and coordination of detailed engineering design of the manufacturing processes, facility, machine selection and implementation of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Plan) till monitoring and assisting production personnel to ensure high yield, zero defects, on‑time delivery and overall compliance.
  • Any other duties as assigned by immediate superior / management.
Key Qualifications
  • Excellent planning, organization, influencing, problem‑solving and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Experience in packaging lines, automation, utilities / facilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Experience in food or nutraceutical environment would be an added advantage.
  • Additional advantage for those who have experience in food industry and familiar with GMP, HACCP, ISO9001, FSSC 22000 & HALAL requirements.
