Job summary

A leading chemical processing firm in Penang is seeking a Chemical Engineer to oversee project management and operations at their facility. Responsibilities include sourcing and evaluating process technology, conducting inspections, and supervising plant construction. Candidates should have a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering and 5 to 6 years of related experience. Good communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential. This role requires independent work and the ability to manage odd working hours.

Qualifications

• 5 to 6 years of experience in project management and operation of a chemical processing plant.
• Able to work independently and during odd hours.
• Good knowledge and experience in Electrical & Instrumentation would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead process technology and plant sourcing and evaluation.
• Conduct site supervision for overall plant erection and checks.
• Prepare final plant and equipment operation and maintenance documents.

Job description

Responsibilities

• New process technology/plant sourcing & evaluation.
• P&ID development; valving & fittings items BQ generation for procurement.
• Specification; design; sizing; sourcing & technical evaluation of process equipment & system (i.e. storage tanks; pumps; valves; heat exchangers; vacuum system etc.).
• Inspection of process equipment & system.
• To liaise with consultants; contractors; vendors & project team for matching up works schedule; progress meeting and resolve all the technical problems.
• To carry out site supervision of overall plant erection & P&ID checks.
• Lead in process pre-commissioning & commissioning.
• To liaise with production & maintenance department for feedback for further improvement prior to project hand-over.
• Final plant/equipment Operation & Maintenance document preparation.
• To support production & maintenance teams on process related technical issues.
• To undertake any other duties as instructed by Superior from time to time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science/Engineering preferably in chemical engineering or equivalent.
• Related 5 to 6 years working experience in project management & operation of chemical processing plant.
• Good knowledge in chemistry & chemical process.
• Good oral & written communication in English & Bahasa Malaysia
• Able to work independent and odd working hour.
• Computer literate.
• Good knowledge & experience in Electrical & Instrument would be an added advantage
