A manufacturing firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Production Planner to develop and monitor production schedules while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has over 5 years in production planning within a manufacturing environment and is proficient in ERP/MRP systems. Bilingual in English and Mandarin is highly advantageous, enhancing communication with counterparts in China.

Job description
Job Responsibilities

Responsible for developing, issuing, and monitoring daily production schedules to ensure meet customer demand while optimizing material usage, production capacity and also forecasts.

Balance production workloads across multiple work centers to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

Collaborate cross-functionally with production, purchasing, and warehouse teams to ensure material readiness and maintain seamless production flow.

Monitor daily production performance and proactively adjust schedules to align with evolving priorities, constraints, and operational demands.

Analyze production capacity, manpower, and machine utilization to identify bottlenecks and improve throughput.

Responsible for maintain accurate data for lead times, cycle times, and also production capacities.

Collaborate closely with planning and procurement teams to ensure timely material replenishment and eliminate potential shortages. Also, need to monitor the inventory levels and support inventory optimization initiatives.

Coordinate the release of work orders and verify accuracy of bill of materials (BOM) and routing data to ensure aligned with production execution.

Collaborate with Sales, Production, Quality, Planning and Engineering to align schedules with customer priorities.

Communicate production status, potential delays, and recovery strategies to the planning team and management to ensure alignment and timely decision-making.

Lead weekly planning meetings to review progress, issues, and improvement actions.

Prepare and present production performance reports such as on-time delivery, capacity utilization and backlog.

Analyze production and performance data to forecast capacity requirements and support accurate long-term planning.

Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in planning and scheduling processes.

Monitoring and support production planners in daily planning activities.

Manage all the subordinates in the task completion and adhere to company policy.

Coordinate communication and collaboration between production and other functional teams to ensure alignment on priorities and activities.

Job Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production planning within manufacturing environment (sheet metal, precision machining or assembly preferred.)
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP/MRP/SAP systems.
  • Background in Sheet Metal Fabrication, machining, assembly, or precision manufacturing is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in Lean Six Sigma, ISO 9001 is an advantage.
  • Bilingual in English/ Mandarin to co‑ordinate with China counterpart. Mandarin speaker would have the most advantages.
