Job summary

Eaton in Malaysia is hiring a Product Engineer based in Shah Alam to support the development and qualification of new repair capabilities for aircraft components. The role emphasizes FAI, technical evaluation, and collaboration with operations, vendors and engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and related documents (TIs, EO, WI).
  • Prepare documentation packages for components/products per approved data.

  • Promote safety culture and ensure SMS compliance.

What you’ll do:
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) processes to verify new or modified process or procedure produces conforming components that meet the specification detailed in approved technical data.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) processes to ensure timely completion and handover of new repair capability to Operations.
  • Perform and coordinate initial technical evaluation to assess new repair capability feasibility.
  • Conduct technical support to Operations for implementation of component maintenance and repair capability development.
  • Coordinate with vendors, engineering team and production personnel for on-job-training on new repair capability.
  • Collaborate with vendors for the development and provision of tools & equipment required for new capability development.
  • Support and coordinate training provision for production personnel on new tools and test equipment.
  • Ensure relevant Engineering Documents including Tools & Test Equipment (T&TE) Equivalency, Technical Instructions (TI), Engineering Order (EO), and Work Instructions (WI) and forms are maintained in good order.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with test equipment manufacturer for equipment commissioning and correlation run of test equipment.
  • Perform document assessment on Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) and other regulatory documents such as Airworthiness Directives (AD), Service Bulletins (SB), Safety Information Bulletin (SIB) and establish required actions.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain a concise and accurate task list as a part of documentation package for every component or product group in accordance with the approved technical data.
  • Prepare technical support to production, procurement, and other functional department for aircraft component and materials issues in accordance with authority requirements and Discrepancy Fault Report (DFR).
  • Review and support the approval of work scopes, customer induced damage cases, repair quotes and ensure a timely initiation of proposed actions.
  • Participate in implementation of Continuous Improvement / Lean process with the primary aim for failure costs reduction and improved working methods in order to achieve an economical component rework procedure.
  • Participate in departmental Continuous Improvement / Lean projects.
  • Promote and instill positive Safety Culture and ensure that Safety and Quality Policy is communicated / promoted and implemented within the company.
  • Ensure Safety Management System (SMS) are properly implemented, maintained and continuously improved by fulfilling all SMS related duties and responsibilities as defined in SMS Manual.
  • Actively feedback to Quality, using the prescribed forms, all potentially unsafe conditions found during inspections/maintenance of the components that could be detrimental to the safety of aircraft.
  • Actively manage all required training/re‑training requirements are achieved and properly documented for record keeping.
  • Actively support to internal and/or external audit by all authorities.
  • Support digitalisation and automation initiatives to enhance workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superior/Management to achieve company objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (5) years of experience in aviation/aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul industry preferably in engine, component and/or piece‑part MRO.
  • Experience in participating in New Product Introduction (NPI) cycle and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
  • Able to understand and interpret Service Bulletin (SB), Airworthiness Directive (AD), Standard Practice Manual (SPM), Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) and other related approved technical data.
  • Knowledge of standards use in aerospace & defense industries (AN, AS, MIL, CAN)
  • Knowledge of Aviation regulations (Part 145, Part 147, Part 66, Part 21, Part M, 14 CFR 145 and international standards (AS/EN 9110, ISO)).
  • Understand and maintain all safe work practices and rules.
  • Proven experience in risk analysis and mitigation, preferably in aviation/aerospace industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to stakeholders. Preference with excellent English communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal and influence skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (or equivalent).
  • Experience in relevant aviation/aerospace aftermarket industry.
  • ERP platform experience (SAP)
