Job summary

Labuan Reinsurance (L) Ltd is seeking a Senior Pricing Actuarial Analyst for the Underwriting Department in Kuala Lumpur. The role focuses on pricing General Insurance products, pricing reviews for treaty and facultative contracts, and developing pricing tools.

You will support profitability analysis and data work for MFRS 17 reporting. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or a professional actuarial qualification with at least 3 years of General Insurance pricing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or professional actuarial qualification.
• Minimum 3 years pricing experience in General Insurance.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel (and Macros), Word; Programming using RStudio.

Responsibilities

• Assist underwriter on new product pricing for General Insurance in a Reinsurance capacity.
• Assist in pricing reviews for treaty and facultative contracts.
• Review existing pricing tool and develop new pricing tools.
• Conduct pricing for ad-hoc quotations from intermediaries or clients.
• Review pricing profitability metrics including classification rate-making, excess, deductible, and individual risk rating.
• Data extraction, transformation and assist in research.
• Prepare dashboards and portfolio analyses for underwriters and Management Committee.
• Understand reinsurance contracts and treaties.
• Assist in data preparation for MFRS 17 software.

As Senior Pricing Actuarial Analyst for the Underwriting Department which is a niche career in the reinsurance market, your role will be:

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Assist the underwriter on new product pricing for General Insurance portfolio in a Reinsurance capacity.
• Assist the underwriter in pricing reviews for treaty and facultative contracts (non standard and onerous contracts).
• Review the existing pricing tool, and develop new pricing tools.
• Conduct pricing for ad-hoc quotations received from intermediaries or clients.
• Review suitability of pricing and conduct profitability analysis that include determining Classification Rate-making, Excess, Deductible, and Individual risk rating, Catastrophic and reinsurance pricing.
• Data extraction, transformation and assist in Research

Product Management

• Prepare dashboards and portfolios analyses for the underwriters and occasionally the Management Committee.
• Understand the basic terminologies in an insurance and reinsurance contract.
• Understand the features of reinsurance treaties.
• Understand the fundamentals and features of the class of businesses underwritten

MFRS 17 (ad hoc)

Assist in the data preparation of pricing-related information such as estimated premium income and pricing loss ratios for the required input template of MFRS 17 software.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, and/or professional qualification in Actuarial.
• Minimum 3 years relevant Pricing experience in the General Insurance industry.
• Experience with Microsoft tool suite, such as Excel (and Macro), Word. Programming language, eg. R studio.
• Self-starter and work independently on projects, tasks, and learning.
