Overview
As a hands-on Senior Platform Engineer – Lead, you will work within the Infra Delivery APAC team to transform from server-based infrastructure to a modern, AWS/Cloud-native platform. You will lead the design, build, secure, and operate cloud platforms and delivery pipelines; coach DevOps and infrastructure colleagues to uplift skills; and embed a disciplined plan‑build‑test‑release‑deploy‑monitor rhythm across teams. You are comfortable with frequent, incremental testing and deployments and champion a DevOps culture of automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Influence
- Mentor and educate DevOps and infrastructure teammates to build competent, professional DevOps practice.
- Establish and socialize standards across:
- Continuous Delivery (CD)
- Microservices
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Translate business requirements into robust, scalable and replicable platform solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
- Act as a technical advisor and trusted partner across engineering, operations, data, and security.
- Drive process improvements for seamless handovers to operations and ensure knowledge redundancy.
- Proactively identify opportunities to support global colleagues and streamline ways of working.
DevOps SDLC & Automation
- Design and operate secure, scalable AWS/Cloud environments.
- Build patterns for networking, compute resources, storage, identity, observability, and security guardrails.
- Migrate on-premises workloads to AWS/Cloud, modernizing where appropriate (containers/serverless, managed data services).
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated build, test, security scans, and deployment gates.
Microservices & Application Platform
- Support teams adopting microservices: service boundaries, APIs, contracts, schema/versioning, and eventing patterns.
- Operate container platforms (Docker, EKS/Kubernetes) and/or serverless (Lambda, Step Functions).
Infrastructure as Code & Configuration Management
- Codify infrastructure with Terraform or CloudFormation; enforce modules, tagging, and policy-as-code.
- Apply configuration management (Ansible/SSM), including patching and drift detection.
Observability & Reliability
- Define and measure SLOs/SLIs, set error budgets, and run blameless postmortems.
- Build observability with CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and centralized logging.
Security & Compliance
- Implement least-privilege IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, VPC security, WAF, and data protection.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Maintain concise, current documentation (runbooks, architecture diagrams, standards, onboarding guides).
- Drive cross-skilling and ensure no single points of failure in knowledge.
Operations & Support
- Participate in on‑call rotation (if applicable), incident response, and problem management.
- Champion Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) and defect elimination.
- Deliver on his/her functional leadership practice, the candidate will help the DevOps team achieve the following benefits:
Benefits & Outcomes
- Speed: Move at high velocity to innovate faster and adapt to changing markets. Mature in microservice creation, CI/CD approaches. Learn ownership of services and release updates quicker.
- Rapid Delivery: Increase release frequencies to improve code and product quality. Release bug fixes timely to respond to customer needs. Mature in CI/CD and microservices for rapid delivery.
- Reliability: Improve quality of updates in both application and infrastructure changes. Ensure service reliability and positive end-user experience. Mature in CI/CD and Monitoring & Logging practices.
- Improved Collaboration: Foster pride, ownership, and accountability for releases. Reduce inefficiencies and save time through shorter handovers. Mature in DevOps cultural model and facilitate collaboration.
- Security: Move quickly while retaining control and preserving security. Adopt Infrastructure as Code and Policy as Code for compliance. Design with security first before functionality.
- Design & Development & Deployment & Maintenance (Break/Fix): Design and implement scalable, automated, and secure infrastructure. Align systems with long-term architectural strategy. Develop and build IT solutions to meet business requirements. Install, configure, and integrate solutions. Build automated deployments using configuration management technology. Deploy new modules, upgrades, and fixes to production. Document and transfer knowledge to production support. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines. Collaborate with developers for scalability, reliability, and security. Perform routine maintenance and act as escalation point for production support. Evaluate existing applications/platforms and recommend improvements. Continuously improve DevOps processes, tools, and systems. Maintain documentation and assist in user guides/training.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10+ years in software/platform/DevOps engineering with 3+ years on AWS/Cloud in production.
- Proven experience migrating from on‑premises/server environments to AWS/Cloud.
- Strong with IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), CI/CD (GitHub Actions/GitLab/Jenkins/CodePipeline), and containers (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
- Proficient in scripting (Python and/or Bash) and Git workflows.
- Solid knowledge of Linux, networking, and observability tooling.
- Practical security mindset (IAM, KMS, secrets, patching, vulnerabilities, OWASP/CIS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to mentor, influence, and align without direct authority.
- Preferred: AWS/Cloud certifications, experience with EventBridge, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, GitOps, and regulated environments.
