Job summary

Randstad Malaysia partners with a rapidly expanding global manufacturing and mechatronics powerhouse in Penang seeking a Senior Optimization Engineer to drive manufacturing excellence, process optimization, and operational efficiency on a major regional expansion.

You will lead line layouts, data analysis, Lean & CI projects, NPI collaboration with R&D and suppliers, ensure quality plans and SPC compliance, and mentor production staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing/process/optimization engineering experience.
• Six Sigma/Lean Certification advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain manufacturing line layouts and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Analyze process cycle times, capacity, throughput, and costs.
• Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support NPI with R&D, CM, supplier/quality/manufacturing teams.
• Ensure Quality Control Plans, PFMEA, SPC, and compliance with policies.
• Conduct employee evaluations, mentor staff, and perform supplier audits.

Job description

We are partnering with a rapidly expanding, state-of-the-art global manufacturing and mechatronics powerhouse based in Penang. Known for their innovation in sustainable, high-quality adjustable workspace solutions, they operate a newly established, massive manufacturing hub in the Bukit Minyak industrial area. They are currently seeking a dynamic Senior Optimization Engineer to drive manufacturing excellence, process optimization, and operational efficiency as part of their major regional expansion. based in Penang.

Responsibilities

• Process Optimization: Establish and maintain manufacturing line layouts and workflows for assembly products to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and process yield while reducing operational costs.
• Data & Cost Analysis: Calculate and analyze process cycle times, capacity, throughput, assembly/manufacturing costs, and process yield charts.
• Lean & Continuous Improvement: Implement Lean Manufacturing methodologies and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• NPI & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, collaborating closely with R&D engineers, Contract Manufacturers (CMs), and Supplier/Quality/Manufacturing teams.
• Quality & Compliance: Ensure implementation of Quality Control Plans, Work Instructions, PFMEA, CPK, SPC, and strict adherence to company Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental policies.
• Leadership & Audits: Conduct periodic employee performance evaluations, mentor production line personnel, and perform supplier audits to maintain high manufacturing standards.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field (Candidates without a degree but with a minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience are also encouraged to apply).
• Certifications: Certification in Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing is a strong advantage.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, process, or optimization engineering.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, mass production processes, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Proficiency in data analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and CAD software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially MS Excel).
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
