A legal regulatory body in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Senior Officer to manage disciplinary matters and ensure compliance under the Legal Profession Act 1976. Responsibilities include drafting legal documents, conducting research, and representing the organization at hearings. The role demands an LLB (Hons) degree, a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, and strong supervisory skills. Analyse and manage disciplinary and intervention matters under the Legal Profession Act 1976, including formulating strategies, preparing reports, and advising management;
Draft and review memorandums, opinions, letters, notices, cause papers, and other legal documents with accuracy and clarity;
Conduct in-depth legal research and monitor changes in the law to support policy and case strategies;
Represent the Bar Council at hearings before the Disciplinary Committee and assist in matters of appeal and reinstatement;
Supervise, guide, and monitor support staff to ensure effective case management and administrative support;
Liaise with panel solicitors, complainants, and relevant stakeholders, and attend to enquiries regarding the disciplinary process;
Oversee database management, including updating and maintaining records of complaints and proceedings;
Ensure effective coordination of administrative support functions;
Carry out any other duties as directed by management.
Possess an LLB (Hons) degree and be an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya;
Minimum 3 years post-admission experience (preferably with exposure to disciplinary, regulatory, or litigation matters.)
Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills, with experience in preparing case briefs, opinions, and submissions.
Proven ability to manage cases independently, exercise sound judgement, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive matters;
Supervisory experience and ability to lead and guide support staff;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
High computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems;
Well‑organised, able to multitask and deliver accurate work under pressure.
Willingness to travel with Klang Valley and outstation as required.
