This role will be responsible for leading the technical aspects of civil engineering projects during the tendering and early contractor involvement phases. It focuses on optimizing design and construction methodologies to enhance value, reduce cost, and improve safety and buildability. The role collaborates with internal teams, consultants, and clients to ensure technical excellence and strategic input during pre‑construction.

Your responsibilities will be:

Tender Phase
  • Lead Technical Evaluation: Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify value‑engineering opportunities.
  • Design Optimization: Propose alternative design solutions that reduce cost, improve constructability, or shorten timelines.
  • Risk Identification: Analyze technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Bid Strategy Support: Work closely with bid managers to align technical proposals with commercial strategies.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with consultants, clients, and internal departments to clarify technical queries and ensure alignment.
Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Responsibilities
  • Buildability Reviews: Assess preliminary designs for constructability and suggest improvements.
  • Value Engineering Workshops: Facilitate sessions with design teams and stakeholders to explore cost‑effective alternatives.
  • Supply Chain Input: Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to gather insights on materials, methods, and innovations.
  • Technical Leadership: Represent the contractor in design meetings, ensuring technical feasibility and compliance.
  • Open Book Costing: Support transparent costing exercises by providing technical input on quantities, methods, and rates.

Engage with Planning and Tender teams during pre‑construction phases and ECI.

Prepare technical reports, design reviews, and value‑engineering proposals.

Ensure all technical solutions comply with relevant codes, safety standards, and client requirements.

Promote sustainable design and construction practices through technical innovation.

To be eligible for this role, you will require:
  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in consulting and construction tendering, with emphasis on Value Engineering and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phases.
