Role Purpose
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for executing Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG)’s comprehensive sustainability agenda. The role includes spearheading the development and execution of strategic Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) initiatives across all divisions, ensuring alignment with clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and targets outlined in the MAG Sustainability Blueprint. The incumbent will play a critical role in advancing the group’s net‑zero carbon emissions goal by overseeing key environmental programs and managing crucial internal and external stakeholder engagements to ensure the successful implementation and reporting of MAG’s sustainability performance.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the creation and ongoing improvement of MAG’s sustainability strategy, ensuring it meets global standards and works toward the 2050 net‑zero carbon goal.
- Provide data‑driven ESG insights and recommendations to the Board and Senior Management, setting sustainability goals, managing projects, and reporting performance.
- Plan and carry out the MAG's 2050 net‑zero transition, focusing on decarbonization efforts such as operational efficiency, fleet upgrades, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and market mechanisms.
- Create and run all environmental and climate programs, including net‑zero modeling, GHG tracking, regulatory reporting, facilities management, carbon offset, and plastic reduction plans.
- Manage Social and Governance (S&G) programs, addressing climate risks, managing carbon trading, improving the supply chain and circular economy, and ensuring full ESG reporting compliance.
- Integrate ESG principles into MAG’s daily operations, ensuring all business units and stakeholders are aligned and accountable.
- Lead efforts to build sustainability knowledge by running training and awareness programs for all employees and external partners.
- Manage all ESG‑related communications to internal and external audiences across all company channels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, regulators, rating agencies, and industry groups.
- Find strategic partnerships to boost MAG’s sustainability influence outside of the core aviation business.
- Manage the creation of the MAG Sustainability Report, ensuring it is accurate, transparent, and meets international standards (like GRI, TCFD, and ISSB).
- Manage the Sustainability Office’s planning, budget, and performance metrics to ensure resources are used effectively and goals are met.
Qualifications & Working Experience
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a relevant discipline.
- At least 10 to 12 years of relevant working experience, preferably in corporate sustainability and management consulting.
