About the company:

Our client is a public listed group who is a leading OEM for major automotive manufacturers and assemblers across Malaysia. Our client’s automotive component division encompasses the manufacture, trading and distribution of a comprehensive range of car components and accessories for both the domestic and export markets and is also involved in the trading and distribution of automotive parts and accessories for the aftermarket or replacement market.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for developing and executing group purchasing strategies, tracking metrics to reduce expenses, negotiating deals, and managing vendors. ensure clear requirements, forecast market trends, mitigate risks, and collaborate with stakeholders. Demonstrate strong leadership, negotiation and analytical skills with ability to anticipate crisis with prepared solution in advance.

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks.
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree holder in supply chain management, logistics or business administration or similar.
  • Proven working experience in a large Purchasing Manufacturing environment especially in automotive industries with a minimum 8 years Managerial roles.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
  • Interest in market dynamics along with business sense.
  • A knack for negotiation and networking.
  • Working experience of vendor management software and development.
  • Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures.
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills.
