A leading construction company is seeking a Senior Legal Executive for its team in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in legal matters related to construction, particularly with FIDIC contracts. Responsibilities include negotiating construction contracts, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and handling legal disputes. Prepare, review, and negotiate construction contracts, including FIDIC contracts, subcontracts, and procurement agreements.
Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and company policies.
Provide legal guidance on contractual rights, obligations, and risk assessments.
Ensure compliance with construction laws, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
Handle contract disputes, claims, and arbitration in accordance with FIDIC and other governing laws.
Assist in litigation matters and coordinate with external legal counsel when necessary.
Identify and mitigate legal risks in construction projects.
Conduct due diligence on contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
Keep updated on legal and regulatory changes affecting the construction industry.
Ensure adherence to corporate governance and compliance with statutory requirements.
Collaborate with project managers, procurement teams, and senior management to provide legal insights.
Liaise with government authorities, clients, and subcontractors to resolve legal issues.
Minimum 3 years of legal experience in the construction industry.
Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent. Candidates with FIDIC contracts is mandatory.
Strong understanding of construction law, and contract administration.
Experience in handling claims, disputes, and contract negotiations.
Excellent knowledge of regulatory compliance in construction.
Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple legal matters simultaneously.
Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm
