Job description

The Senior IT Engineer / IT Lead is responsible for managing the company’s on-premise and data center infrastructure across Penang and Kuala Lumpur. This role oversees server operations, network reliability, EUC support, and office IT readiness. The ideal candidate is passionate about improving infrastructure to meet industry standards, enhancing internal and cloud security, and ensuring long-term system reliability. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior management and C‑suite leaders, providing high visibility and strong prospects for future advancement into higher leadership roles.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Server & Infrastructure Management

• Administer Linux (CentOS/RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows Server systems
• Perform patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
• Maintain backups, monitoring, and DR readiness
• Continuously improve infrastructure to meet modern industry benchmarks

2. Data Center Operations

• Perform rack/stack, cabling, hardware checks, and vendor coordination
• Support physical inspections, maintenance windows, and audits

3. Network Administration

• Support and maintain corporate network infrastructure
• Manage switches, firewalls, routers, VPN, WAN & VLAN setups
• Monitor network reliability and resolve outages
• Optimize network architecture for performance and security
• Provide basic support for containerized workloads
• Assist DevOps teams with deployments and node troubleshooting

5. EUC & Office Operational Support

• Lead Penang office IT operations (laptops, Wi‑Fi, meeting rooms, printers)
• Maintain asset inventory and licensing compliance

6. Security & Governance

• Strengthen internal and cloud security frameworks
• Implement server hardening, network segmentation, and access controls
• Ensure systems follow cybersecurity, governance, and compliance guidelines
• Conduct vulnerability remediation and proactively improve system posture

7. Documentation & Standards

• Maintain SOPs, network diagrams, IT documentation
• Contribute to audit preparations and DR testing
• Coordinate work with KL IT team and external vendors
• Lead improvement initiatives and infrastructure enhancement projects

9. Travel Requirement

• Travel to KL data center or office for maintenance, deployment, and audits when required

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Diploma/Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Technical Experience

• 5–8 years experience in system administration and IT infrastructure
• Solid networking foundation (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPN, firewalls)
• Experience with Proxmox/VMware/Hyper‑V and enterprise hardware
• Experience with ISO 27001 working environment
• Exposure to cloud technologies and Kubernetes/Docker
• Strong passion for infrastructure modernization and security
