A tax advisory firm in Malaysia is seeking a Tax Consultant to provide advisory services on SST and Customs matters. Candidates should have a degree in Accounting or Taxation, and preferably a professional qualification. The role requires 4-6 years of indirect tax experience in public practice, strong knowledge of Malaysian regulations, and good communication skills. Provide advisory services on SST, Sales Tax, Customs duties, excise duties, and other indirect tax matters.
Review clients’ SST registrations, taxable service classifications, exemptions, and SST-02 submissions.
Assist clients with RMCD audits, investigations, desk reviews, and prepare technical responses.
Conduct indirect tax health checks, compliance reviews, and process assessments.
Prepare advisory reports, technical memoranda, proposals, and presentations.
Keep up to date with changes in legislation, RMCD guidelines, and industry practices.
Provide updates to stakeholders.
Support e-invoicing implementation as it relates to SST.
Manage multiple client engagements, ensuring timely and quality deliverables.
Degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field.
Professional qualification (CTIM, ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, etc.) is an advantage.
Minimum 4–6 years of indirect tax experience in public practice.
Strong technical knowledge of Malaysian SST and Customs regulations.
Experience dealing with RMCD audits and preparing technical submissions.
Good communication and report-writing skills.
Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
Able to manage projects independently and lead junior team members.
