Job summary

Ekco is seeking a senior full stack developer to own significant parts of Sphere, our multi-tenant customer portal. You will scope ambiguous problems, set architectural direction, mentor engineers, and drive complex cross-cutting work with minimal oversight.

Sphere sits atop a data platform feeding embedded analytics in the portal. You will collaborate with data engineers and product teams to shape requirements and deliver scalable, secure solutions in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building production web apps with Python/Django or similar backend framework.
• Strong experience with a modern JS framework (Vue, React, or Angular) and frontend architecture knowledge.
• Track record of owning systems end-to-end: design, implement, test, operate in production.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction.
• Comfort with ambiguity and turning loosely defined problems into scoped solutions.
• Strong API design, data modeling, and security instincts for multi-tenant contexts.
• Clear communicator able to explain tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong systems thinking.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of significant features end-to-end, from data model to UI.
• Make and document architectural decisions for a multi-tenant SaaS platform, balancing performance, security, and maintainability.
• Design REST APIs and scalable background job systems.
• Build and evolve a Vue 3/TypeScript frontend, including CMS-driven UI.
• Review code and mentor engineers to raise testing, architecture, and quality standards.
• Partner with product to shape requirements, not just receive them.
• Identify and resolve technical debt and systemic issues before customer impact.
• Integrate with Azure services and third-party APIs.
• Collaborate with data engineers on upstream Databricks data pipelines.
• Write and maintain integrations between Sphere and external systems.
